The moon is a satellite that inexplicably brings us ideas of reverie, longing and mystery when we observe it. It encloses, magic and beauty besides that it illuminates us every night. It inspires us to imagine without limits, contemplating it is the most beautiful and simple thing that can exist. Although the moon is always alone, it never loses its brightness.

Here, three songs related to the moon:

1.- Moondance (Van Morrison).

The ballad Moondance belongs to Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and is found on his 1970 album of the same name.

Moondance, is Morrison's third album, where he decided to concretize his creations in ten short songs, with a lot of the R&B of his first band, some Rock and Roll, and a touch of Jazz.

On Moondance there are cathartic statements about renewal, rebirth, and awe at the natural beauty that surrounds him.

The song Moonlight is primarily acoustic, a song about autumn, the composer's favorite season.

Moondance, is the most jazzy piece on the album. Cadent, elegant and magical as the scenes it describes, a nocturnal and autumnal song, easy to listen to.

This excellent version is from 1976 and was recorded on the famous TV show Midnight Special, where Van Morrison performs Moondance with none other than Etta James, George Benson, Carlos Santana, Dr. John & Tom Scott.

2.- Harvest Moon (Neil Young).

Source

Neil Young's career began in 1963, this artist is remembered as one of the founding stones of two emblematic groups of the 1960s: Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

He is a solo artist with an extensive discography that already exceeds 50 titles, and he has toured a variety of genres, alone or with his faithful band Crazy Horse.

The album is the twenty-second released by Neil Young as a soloist in 1992, the song Harvest Moon (which gives its name to the album) is a tender song to love expressed with honesty and humility, is the love from the commitment, respect and be there against all odds.

3.- Moonlight Shadow (Mike Oldfield and Maggie Reilly).

Source

Mike Oldfield is a multi-instrumentalist known for his 1973 release Tubular Bells, one of the seminal works in the history of symphonic rock.

In 1983 he released his eighth studio album, entitled Crises. A Lp with two very different sides one from the other; in the A side the suite Crises, of almost twenty-one minutes of duration, a complex piece of progressive rock of great quality was collected. The B side, presents sounds close to pop-rock; it is composed of five songs among them one of the most recognizable of the eighties Moonlight Shadow, a good pop song, well supported by the rhythm section and keyboards, with an interesting guitar solo and, above all, Maggie Reilly's voice.

It has been suggested that the lyrics might allude to the murder of John Lennon, although according to Oldfield's statement at least at the beginning, the song was inspired by the movie The Great Houdini which was about the attempts to contact Houdini after he had died, through spiritualism.

The lyrics tell us about the ghost of a dead lover who tries to return to his beloved however he is dragged away by the shadow of the moonlight and she cannot reach him.

This is my participation in the initiative proposed by @ablaze called Three Tune Tuesday #ttt.

Thank you for stopping by here, I hope you have entertained yourself for a while with these good songs and are encouraged to enjoy more material from these artists, a big greeting to all.

It's cool that Youtube has these Van Morrison clips. Wish I was there. And Neil is always a good listen. I'm not sure who the third one was.

I think my favorite moon song is from CCR or maybe Moon River. Not really sure, but I like dancing in the moonlight.^^
