RE: Three Songs by The Strokes | Music & Natto (Three Tunes Tuesday Edition) [ENG/SPA]

Yes, it is common for not many people to recognize this subgenre of Rock since it was more of a resurgence of the same from several decades ago. In reality, Garage Rock originated between the 70s and 80s along with a variety of subgenres that were also born between the separation of Rock, Punk and Funk. Between 2000 and 2010 we saw that Garage Rock Resurgence, but it didn't have much impact due to the huge number of genres that became popular and the competition that existed between them.

Rock also went through an attempt to stay alive after the new millennium, and many subgenres could be heard on the charts, not only Garage Rock, but also Indie Rock, Hard Rock, Nu Metal and so on. The good thing is that, thanks to bands like The Strokes that have lasted into the current decade, the Rock genre has NOT died yet, but rather quite the opposite.
