Small steps in my great passion

Hello dear friends, I have been practicing cuatro and vocalization for a few weeks now, although I started two months ago the teacher had a vacation and came back only two weeks ago. The truth is that I found it difficult to learn to play the cuatro because the coordination between the mind and the fingers made it very difficult, even to learn the musical notes.

I am not saying that I am old but there are things that one should learn as a child. But sometimes there is no such opportunity. However, even though I have tried much harder than the kids, I feel I am getting there, it's all in the practice and the love we put into it. I am proving to myself and others that when you love something like I love music, it doesn't matter how old you are, just do whatever you can to not give up your passion. I really like singing and the truth is that I had not had the opportunity to learn, with a teacher to guide you and tell you what you are doing wrong and how you can improve.

My first idea was to enroll my son in a singing course and Cuatro, I found the perfect place since it is a public place and it is free, with a lot of insecurity I asked if I could enroll too. The teacher immediately said yes.

That day I didn't know it yet, but that step I took pushed many to try too. Seeing me participating in classes, taking notes and even singing along with the children, many parents who saw me decided to try it too and now I am not the only adult, there are 4 more mothers, 1 father and 1 grandmother. Thus demonstrating that there is no age to learn and that the limitations are set by oneself.

We are practicing the Zaraza flower sung by the Venezuelan singer Rudy Olivo, I hope soon to be able to show you how I have progressed singing and playing it in the Venezuelan Cuatro. I want my son to realize that when you have a passion, a dream, nothing, not even time should make you give up. That also includes the comments of people who may prefer another instrument or who may not like your singing voice.

Recently I heard several news about the singer Melody, she has a beautiful voice and the truth is that she has had it since she was a child, but when she participated in the Eurovision contest she was not the favorite even among those of her own country. Her charisma and positive attitude made her always look forward no matter who supported her. It was a long road and she deserved to win, but that was not the most important thing, what she proved was how valuable and brave she was.

We are brave when we overcome the fear of what people will say or our own complexes. My goal is to sing with harmony, to be inspired by the music I play and to fulfill my dream of learning more about what I love and enjoy the most, music.

My son is also learning but his hands are very small and in the meantime he is being taught vocalization. At his young age he shows a love for music, only time will tell if it will become his passion.

Hola queridos amigos, llevo unas semanas practicando cuatro y vocalización, aunque empecé hace dos meses el profesor tuvo vacaciones y volvió hace solo dos semanas. La verdad es que me costó mucho aprender a tocar el cuatro porque la coordinación entre la mente y los dedos se me hacía muy difícil, incluso aprender las notas musicales.

No digo que sea vieja, pero hay cosas que uno debería aprender de niño. Pero a veces no existe esa oportunidad. Sin embargo, aunque me he esforzado mucho más que los niños, siento que lo estoy consiguiendo, todo depende de la práctica y del amor que le pongamos. Me estoy demostrando a mí misma y a los demás que cuando amas algo como yo amo la música, no importa la edad que tengas, hacer lo que puedas para no abandonar tu pasión. Me gusta mucho cantar y la verdad es que no había tenido la oportunidad de aprender, con un profesor que te guíe y te diga qué estás haciendo mal y cómo puedes mejorar.

Mi primera idea fue anotar a mi hijo a un curso de canto y Cuatro, encontré el sitio perfecto ya que es un sitio público y es gratis, con mucha inseguridad pregunté si yo también me podía anotar. El profesor inmediatamente me dijo que sí.

Ese día aún no lo sabía, pero ese paso que di empujó a muchos a intentarlo también. Al verme participar en las clases, tomar apuntes e incluso cantar junto a los niños, muchos padres que me vieron decidieron probar también y ahora no soy la única adulta, hay 4 madres más, 1 padre y 1 abuela. Demostrando así que no hay edad para aprender y que las limitaciones las pone uno mismo.

Estamos practicando la flor de Zaraza cantada por la cantante Venezolana Rudy Olivo, espero pronto poder mostrarles como he progresado cantándola y tocándola en el Cuatro Venezolano. Quiero que mi hijo se dé cuenta de que cuando tienes una pasión, un sueño, nada, ni siquiera el tiempo debe hacerte desistir. Eso incluye también los comentarios de la gente que puede preferir otro instrumento o a la que puede no gustarle tu voz de cantante.

Hace poco escuche varias noticias de la cantante Melody, tiene una voz hermosa y la verdad la tiene desde muy niña, pero al participar en el concurso de Eurovision no fué la favorita ni siquiera de los de su mismo país. Su carisma y su actitud positiva hicieron que siempre viera hacia adelante sin importar quienes la apoyaban. Fué largo camino y merecía ganar, pero eso no era lo más importante lo que demostró fué lo valiosa y valiente que era.

Somos valientes cuando vencemos el temor del que dirán o los mismos complejos nuestros. Mi meta es cantar con armonía, que la música que toque sea inspiración y así cumplir mi sueño de aprender más de lo que más amo y disfruto, la música.

Mi hijo también está aprendiendo pero sus manos son muy pequeñitas y mientras tanto le están enseñando vocalización. A su corta edad demuestra amor por la música, solo el tiempo dirá si se convertirá en su pasión.
