Yellow... banana! Music... smiles!

I’ve come here to share a few songs that always make me smile whenever they pop up on my playlist. And because I’m running out of time—said the White Witch of YouHive… but look, I almost always listen to music while I’m cycling; it really helps keep the pedalling rhythm. Sometimes the playlists I find on Spotify bring me artists I’ve never heard of before… and they make me smile.

I’ve already said that, haven’t I?

It’s just so lovely, when I pause for a moment on a street corner to capture something, and that music is playing in my right ear... Because, you know, a bus crushed my left earbud. Oh, you didn’t know? That’s because you missed the post where I told the story—I hit a pothole, it flew out of my ear and grrrchhbagaffluf… it turned into electronic mush. 😁

But I’m quite content with my one-sided soundtrack. That way, my other ear stays free to listen to the city—and its colours. Oh! You didn’t know? That colours have sounds?

That phenomenon of blending and confusing the senses is called synaesthesia—and Kandinsky had it. He could hear the colors and he could also paint the sounds—haha… I like it, he was a mystic of his time. _{additional information}

He venido aquí a compartir unas canciones que cada vez que suenan en mi playlist me hacen sonreír. Y porque se me acaba el tiempo —dijo la bruja blanca de YouHive… pero mira, casi siempre escucho canciones cuando voy en bicicleta, ayuda mucho a mantener el ritmo de pedaleo, y a veces las listas que busco en Spotify me traen autores que son nuevos para mí... y me hacen sonreír.

Es que es tan bonito, cuando me quedo un rato en una esquina para capturar algunos momentos con mi cámara y esa música ahí sonando en mi oído derecho... Porque sabes que el earbud izquierdo me lo aplastó una guagua. Ah, ¿no lo sabías? Eso es que te perdiste aquel post en el que lo conté, caí en un bache y se saltó de mi orejita y grrrchhbagaffluf lo hicieron papilla electrónica.

No importa, yo estoy contenta con mi banda sonora de un solo lado. Así se me queda libre la otra orejita para escuchar a la ciudad y sus colores. ¡Ah! ¿no lo sabías?, ¿que los colores tienen sonidos?

Ese fenómeno de confundir y mezclar los sentidos se llama sinestesia y Kandinsky lo tenía. Él podía oír los colores y también podía pintar los sonidos—jaja… Me gusta, era un místico de su tiempo. _{más info}

Well, I can taste the colour yellow when I see it—and to me, it tastes like... banana! It makes me so hungry… Oh yes, yes, the song. The first song I want to share is by Antoñito Molina. It just so happened to be playing yesterday when I was in that place… you know, the place where I got hungry. 😀

That song makes me feel so happy just by listening to it. It could be about romantic love, but in the music video it’s just him, joyful on his bicycle—and when he’s playing with the musicians, there’s a moment where he gestures towards his own shirt.

Bueno, yo saboreo el color amarillo cuando lo veo ¡y me parece que sabe a platanitos! Me da un hambre... Ay, ay, ay la canción. La primera canción que quiero compartir es de Antoñito Molina. Casualmente estaba sonando ayer cuando estaba en ese lugar, en el lugar donde me dio hambre, ya sabes...

La canción me hace sentir tan feliz de solo escucharla. Podría referirse al amor de pareja pero en el video clip sólo sale él siendo feliz en su bicicleta y cuando está con los músicos allí tocando hace un gesto de tocarse su propia camisa.

Antoñito likes Sabina just like I do… in this song I’ve just shared, he says he’s got a Joaquín Sabina album riding shotgun—another great artist I admire deeply.

Still, I’m not going to bring Sabina—though I’d love to… but rather another unknown soul I discovered while flying along on my bicycle. 🤣

It’s a version of Mediterráneo that I also sing very loud, and I like it in Miguel Campello’s voice. I hadn’t seen Campello before—until one day I got home and thought to myself, I want to know who this man is; I don’t know him. So I looked up the video on YouTube—and I absolutely loved it.

It’s very simple. But I can almost feel that sea… and he has a charisma that really draws my attention.

This song was written by the great Joan Manuel Serrat. It’s one of those legendary songs, the kind that leaves the writer completely emptied out when it’s done… or at least that’s how I imagine it.

And yes… I belt this one out too, full volume. It gives me goosebumps every time, that part especially:

A Antoñito le gusta Sabina igual que a mí... dice en esta canción que acabo de compartir, que de copiloto lleva un disco de Joaquín Sabina, ese otro grande que admiro tanto. Sin embargo, no voy a traer a Sabina, aunque me gustaría... sino a otro desconocido de esos que conocí mientras voy volando en mi bicicleta. 🤣

Es una versión de Mediterráneo que también canto a viva voz y me encanta en la voz de Miguel Campello.

No lo había visto, a Campello, hasta que un día llegué a casa y me dije: Quiero saber quién es que no lo conozco. Y busqué el video en Youtube y me encantó.

Esta canción la escribió el grande Joan Manuel Serrat. Es de esas canciones antológicas, que su autor se quedó vacío cuando la compuso... así creo yo.

También la canto a viva voz y me erizo, sobre todo con esta parte:
