TTT | Three Tune Tuesday | Music and Coffee

A few days ago I was walking with my mother through the streets of Havana. We entered a store and I bought coffee and a chocolate bar. Coffee and chocolate are two such good things, so energetic... well it turns out that since yesterday I was looking at this package of coffee and when I opened it I thought I would share with you the experience of tasting this brand.

Caracolillo... this unquiet mind. I remembered a children's song performed by a great woman I admire very much and I would like to bring it here to Three Tune Tuesday. You know, talking about the coffee experience, it's taking a back seat right now.

It is that her "Caracolillo" has to do with foam and salt. This song contained in her album Travesía Mágica is very beautiful. The songs interpreted by Liuba María Hevia are so tender, and many of them have that countryside flavor. It doesn't matter if it's about the sea, she makes a party (guateque, as the guajiros say) in the water, with all the magical beings that inhabit it.

Hace unos días caminaba con mi madre por las calles de mi ciudad. Entramos a una tienda y compré café y una barra de chocolate. El café y el chocolate son dos cosas tan buenas, tan energéticas… pues resulta que desde ayer estaba mirando este paquete de café y cuando lo abrí pensé en compartir con ustedes la experiencia de saborear esta marca.

Caracolillo… esta mente inquieta. Recordé una canción infantil que interpreta una gran mujer que admiro mucho y me gustaría traer acá a Three Tune Tuesday. Ya sabes, lo de hablar de la experiencia del café, está quedando en segundo plano ahora mismo.
Es que su caracolillo tiene que ver con la espuma y con la sal.

Este tema contenido en su Disco Travesía Mágica es muy bello. Las canciones que interpreta Liuba María Hevia son tan tiernas, y muchas de ellas guardan ese regustillo a campo. No importa si ésta trata del mar, ella hace un guateque en el agua, con todos los seres mágicos que la habitan.

Here she is accompanied by Amaury Pérez Vidal, another great Cuban singer-songwriter, founder of the New Cuban Trova Movement that emerged towards the end of 1967 with Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés and Noel Nicola as main exponents. Liuba joined this movement in 1982, as I understand it. I am fascinated by her songs. All of them. They are so marked by poetry, by a deep lyricism and by a sensitivity that touches me very closely 😉.

I have had the joy of being able to share with her in private spaces. She is so joyful, and very funny. But these things I keep to myself. We happen to have several friends in common, and even though this happened a long time ago, I don't forget that nice feeling of being by her side and chatting with her for a while.

I have also been able to photograph her. Of the photos I have been able to find, I share with you this one, which I took during a meeting of Mujeres Cantoras (Women Singers) at Casa de las Américas.

She talks about her Cuban-Spanish roots in the next song I share with you. A song that I know by heart, well, I know all her songs by heart. But look at the beauty of her music and also this particular video clip, the work of her brother Pepe Hevia.

Aquí la acompaña Amaury Pérez Vidal, otro gran cantautor cubano, fundador del Movimiento de la Nueva Trova Cubana, que surgió hacia finales de 1967 con Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés y Noel Nicola como principales exponentes.

Liuba se incorporó a este movimiento en 1982, según tengo entendido. A mí me fascinan sus canciones. Todas. Están tan marcadas por la poesía, por un profundo lirismo y por una sensibilidad que me toca muy de cerca 😉.

He tenido la dicha de poder compartir con ella en espacios privados. Es tan alegre, y muy graciosa. Pero estas cosas me las reservo. Resulta que tenemos varias amigas en común, y aunque esto pasó hace mucho tiempo, no olvido esa bonita sensación de estar a su lado y conversar un rato con ella.

También he podido fotografiarla. De las fotos que he podido encontrar, les comparto esta, que la hice durante un encuentro de Mujeres Cantoras en la Casa de las Américas.

De sus raíces cubanoespañolas habla en la próxima canción que te comparto. Una canción que me sé de memoria, bueno, es que me sé todas sus canciones de memoria. Pero fíjate en la belleza que encierra su música y también este video clip en particular, obra de su hermano Pepe Hevia.

Well, since this song is over, I would also like to tell you that this week I had the great news that Oli, @mdrguez's daughter, made some animations to Liuba for some videoclips. This was great to know. You can see her post here, which is very interesting.

And yes, let's go back to the taste of Coffee that these days floods my mornings with its smell. The Caracolillo is an Arabica variety and the interesting fact is that it is a bean that is harvested, which due to a pollination defect of the plant, instead of generating two beans, generates only one. Wow... For a long time these beans were discarded until the coffee masters found in them a special flavor 😉: Sweetness. And I can attest to that, its taste is like honey.

I think of some things and compare them (hahaha, my mischief), but the thing is that Liuba has a beautiful song titled "Besos de café" and here I bring it to you, hoping you enjoy it a lot, like me.

Bueno, ya que terminó esta canción te comento también que esta semana tuve la grata noticia de que Oli, la hija de @mdrguez, le hizo unas animaciones a Liuba para algunos videoclips. Esto me encantó saberlo. Puedes ver su post aquí, que es bien interesante.

Y sí, retomemos el sabor del Café que por estos días inunda con su olor mis mañanas. El Caracolillo es una variedad arábiga y el dato interesante es que se trata de un grano que se recolecta, el cual por un defecto de polinización de la planta, en lugar de generar dos granos, genera solo uno. Wow… Mucho tiempo se desecharon estos granos hasta que los maestros cafeteros encontraron en ellos un sabor especial 😉: Dulzor. Y doy fé de ello, su sabor es como de miel.

Pienso en algunas cosas y las comparo (jajaja, travesuras mías), pero el caso es que Liuba tiene una hermosa canción que se titula “Besos de café” y aquí la traigo, esperando que la disfrutes mucho, como yo.
