Hello, friends of the world! Hello, friends of Hive! Today is Mars, the first Tuesday in March, and as you all know: Tuesdays are music Tuesdays at Hive.
Today is Shrove Tuesday and I imagine many of you will be at the beach or relaxing. Last week I wrote about songs that we can listen to and dance to during Carnival, or at least in the carnivals of the Oriente in Venezuela.
Today I want to continue with the danceable, party and Caribbean vibe, and take up again the publications of Idols of an era in Venezuela, so I would like to talk about a group that fused rhythms back in the 80's and made all of Venezuela dance with their catchy music: the group Daiquirí.
Like the cocktail, yes: the music of the group Daiquirí was refreshing, tropical and full of flavor. Their particular rhythm earned them many recognitions, but especially the famous “Daiquiri rhythm”, which made them different from the other tropical groups of the time. So turn up the volume and choose a couple, the party is on:
Let's start with the famous piece “Chamito Candela”, one of the most famous of the group and that made more than one of them to be called that way: Chamito candela. The sound of the electric piano, the electronic organ and the intensive use of Yamaha sounds were common in all their songs and were a personal seal of the group. It was enough to hear that particular sound, for the young people to shout with joy and go out to the dance floor to dance.
“Puro deseo de amar” was the group's first promotional single and thanks to an excellent advertising campaign and the talent of these creative musicians, they were immediately positioned in the first places of Caribbean music. So much so, that after that, I remember that many people dressed like them: with printed and flowered shirts; and more than one celebrated their birthday “Daiquiri” style: cocktails, palm trees, dark glasses and Caribbean music.
The same thing happened with “Caso perdido” as with “Chamito Candela”: people began to use the expression in everyday life. They made it their own and made it fashionable among young people. So much so that people, in order to complain about someone's constant bad behavior, would sing the chorus of this song: “Caso perdido, tú eres un caso perdido” (Lost case, you are a lost case).
Currently, this group is still going strong and although they made a new album in 2015, which was nominated for a Grammy, I don't remember hearing anything new from them. And it's a pity, because there is plenty of talent and groups like this, which created the party with the first chord, every day there are less and less.
Saludos
Daiquiri are fluffing awesome, and I can see someone dancing to this with their pina colada in their hand!
Sending you a daiquiri hug my friend
Exactly, that's what I was doing yesterday while listening to these songs!!! Double hugs to you, my friend
