Three-Tune Tuesday: Tres canciones de Carlos Mata/ Three songs by Carlos Mata (ESP/ ENG)

I love to say that today is Tuesday and Tuesday is a day to share good music on Hive.
Months ago I started this series of posts about Venezuelan musicians and bands that were successful in the 80s. The idea is not only to inform, to make known to the new generations, the talent that there was and there is in Venezuela, I also wanted to remember, to relive those years, because as my grandmother used to say: to remember is to live.
Today I want to listen to my favorite leading man, literally: the protagonist of the telenovela. A man who, although he started out as a singer, it was acting that brought him fame and money. Let's listen to three papachongo songs: Carlos Mata.
The first song of Carlos Matas that I would like to share with you is the theme song of the successful soap opera “Topacio” and that served him to break through in the music scene: "¿Qué por qué te quiero? This pop ballad belongs to his second album, which topped the Billboard charts for 36 weeks in 1985.
The second song, “Presiento”, was part of the soundtrack of the famous telenovela Cristal, which starred Carlos Mata himself. To talk about the worldwide success of this telenovela is to talk about the incredible success of all the actors and singers involved in this television project. Carlos Mata himself has said that “Cristal” served to take his music to countries he never knew existed.
With more than 25 soap operas that were broadcasted in more than 60 countries, it is normal that Carlos Mata has been considered, at the time, as one of the Venezuelan singers with more international projection. The third and last song was a radio hit, Déjame intentar, which consolidated him in the recording markets and led him to conquer hearts, thus becoming an icon of the 80s.
I read Carlos Mata's biography and it infuriates me to know that he is already 72 years old. I feel like it was just yesterday when my parents scolded me because I would scream in front of the TV while listening to him sing or sigh in love when I saw him kissing his soap opera partners. Well, although it's hard for me to admit it, I'm not 15 either. Hahahaha. Certainly: to remember is to live.
¡Qué buen "Three-Tune Tuesday"! 🎶 ¡Carlos Mata siempre es un hit! 🐎
