Nirvana: "Perfectamente Imperfecto" [ES - EN]
El rock en los 90' también proveyó una generación de cantantes, mejor dicho, músicos que son insustituibles; voces únicas que perduran en el tiempo y que podrán ser imitadas, pero en mi opinión, nunca superadas y una de esas voces fue la de Kurt Cobain quien desde el momento de su fallecimiento puso fin a una de las bandas más emblemáticas en la historia del rock, me refiero a Nirvana.
Muchos años han pasado desde la trágica noticia de la muerte de Cobain y sus demás integrantes tuvieron que lidiar con la gigantesca sombra del líder e imagen principal de la banda y hasta aprendieron a seguir en el negocio del entretenimiento creando música para las masas y también para los fans de siempre, todo eso con un extraño y posiblemente único entendimiento de los fans lo cual era imposible una nueva vida de Nirvana, pero ahora sin Kurt y todo eso era debido a lo que anteriormente hice referencia y es a lo único que era su voz, su aspecto, su fuerza y actitud en el momento de interpretar sus canciones; justamente esa marca es la que ha creado influencia en algún que otro nuevo artista que podrá realizar homenaje tanto a él como a la banda, pero llevando la música de Nirvana a otos ámbitos en dónde se puede manejar mejor; algunas veces esto puedo funcionar y otras, siendo el causante del éxito la odiosa (o tal vez no) comparación de quien decide cantar las canciones de uno de los mejores cantantes de rock.

Rock in the 90's also provided a generation of singers, better said, musicians who are irreplaceable; unique voices that endure in time and that may be imitated, but in my opinion, never surpassed and one of those voices was that of Kurt Cobain who from the moment of his death put an end to one of the most emblematic bands in the history of rock, I mean Nirvana.
Many years have passed since the tragic news of the death of Cobain and its other members had to deal with the gigantic shadow of the leader and main image of the band and even learned to continue in the entertainment business creating music for the masses and also for the longtime fans, all that with a strange and possibly unique understanding of the fans which was impossible a new life of Nirvana, but now without Kurt and all that was because of what I previously referred to and that is the only thing that was his voice, his look, his strength and attitude at the time of performing his songs; precisely that mark is the one that has created influence in some other new artist that will be able to make homage to him as to the band, but taking the music of Nirvana to other areas where it can be handled better; sometimes this can work and others, being the cause of the success the hateful (or maybe not) comparison of who decides to sing the songs of one of the best singers of rock.
Lo que anteriormente compartí funciona como un preámbulo del tema principal de esta publicación, más que nada con respecto a como los sobrevivientes de esta banda deciden reunirse y nuevamente tocar las canciones que crearon gran fama, pero también una gran perdida; la primera reunión que recuerdo es la que se llevó a cabo en la inducción de Nirvana al Salón de Fama del Rock N' Roll en el 2014 y en dónde como es habitual, la banda que hace ingreso se presenta tocando algunos de sus temas y como es lógico, tanto Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic y Pat Smear fueron acompañados por otras artistas quienes cantaron varias canciones; recuerdo que al momento no me sentí satisfecho por el cómo fue interpretado varios de los temas, la nostalgia de ver a los integrantes de tan mítica banda me hizo pensar que se debió elegir mejor a las cantantes, una completa falta de respeto de mi persona porque se contó con mujeres que tienen un gran peso en la historia del rock y que influyeron en Nirvana, me refiero a Kim Gordon y Joan Jett; once años han pasado de esa presentación y de manera sorpresiva y por una buena causa como es la recaudación para ayudar a la Ciudad de Los Angeles, víctima de los incendios, nuevamente Nirvana decide regresar al escenario y tocar algunas canciones con ya conocidas intérpretes.
No voy a mentir en que está reunión me sorprendió, creo que me creó más impacto de la que sucedió hace años aunque nuevamente tengo quejas con respecto a la elección de las cantantes, pero once años no pasan en vano, creo que no se puede sucumbir en la nostalgia, en añorar lo imposible y entender el porqué sucede o en este caso, la banda elige quien debe cantar las canciones de Cobain y es por eso que a pesar de tener una reacción de rechazo, decidí nuevamente ver cada una de las cuatro canciones que interpretó Nirvana y sentir nostalgia no solo por la banda, sino por lo vivido en esa época en dónde la imperfección de cualquier presentación sin importar la banda, al final era perfecto porque podías disfrutar de la música.

What I shared above functions as a preamble to the main theme of this post, mostly regarding how the survivors of this band decide to reunite and once again play the songs that created great fame, but also great loss; the first reunion that I remember is the one that took place at Nirvana's induction into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 and where as usual, the band that makes admission is presented playing some of their songs and as is logical, both Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear were accompanied by other artists who sang several songs; I remember that at the time I was not satisfied with how several of the songs were interpreted, the nostalgia of seeing the members of such a mythical band made me think that the singers should have been chosen better, a complete lack of respect from me because there were women who have a great weight in the history of rock and who influenced Nirvana, I am referring to Kim Gordon and Joan Jett; eleven years have passed since that presentation and surprisingly and for a good cause such as raising money to help the City of Los Angeles, victim of the fires, again Nirvana decides to return to the stage and play some songs with already known performers.
I'm not going to lie in that this reunion surprised me, I think it created more impact than the one that happened years ago although again I have complaints regarding the choice of singers, but eleven years do not pass in vain, I think you can not succumb to nostalgia, in longing for the impossible and understand why it happens or in this case, the band chooses who should sing the songs of Cobain and that is why despite having a reaction of rejection, I decided to see again each of the four songs performed by Nirvana and feel nostalgia not only for the band, but for the experience of that time where the imperfection of any presentation regardless of the band, in the end it was perfect because you could enjoy the music.
Creo que al ver a St. Vincent luchar con su auricular, estar a destiempo, junto a ver a Joan Jett olvidarse de la letra de "Territorial Pissings" o ver nuevamente cantar a Kim Gordon fue lo más grunge que he visto desde hace muchos años, fue un gran homenaje a Nirvana, a lo improvisado, caótico y real que fue ese movimiento en los 90' y que me empujó a no quedarme en ese estilo de rock, sino que me dio el impulso a escuchar a otros estilos más dentro del rock, pero aparte de todas esas interpretaciones, creo que hubo una que resaltó y que primeramente no capté desde un principio y fue la actuación de Violet Grohl, hija de Dave quien interpretó "All Apologies"; primeramente pensé que no mostraba actitud o que a pesar de no imitar a Kurt con su voz (algo imposible), de igual manera se sentía retraída y eso me hizo buscar videos en vivo de Nirvana tocando esa canción y me quedo con dos conciertos, uno en dónde Kurt se nota cansado, se le olvida la letra de la canción, improvisa, pero de igual manera muestra todo el poder de su voz; la otra interpretación es la del MTV Unplugged, una interpretación limpia, mejor producida, pero cuenta con un Kurt con una actitud diferente, motivado, tranquilo y justamente es eso lo que hace impactante esa interpretación, ya que su voz con tanta fuerza cuando es necesario parece que saliera de otra persona y no de lo que transmite Kobain y al ver eso, inmediatamente pensé que esa actuación influyó en la joven Violet que al ver varias veces su interpretación me hace pensar que es ese un gran y verdadero homenaje a la banda, una en dónde nuevas generaciones puedan conocer realmente lo hecho por Nirvana y otras más en el mundo de la música.

I think watching St. Vincent struggling with his earphone, being out of time, together with seeing Joan Jett forgetting the lyrics of "Territorial Pissings" or seeing Kim Gordon singing again was the most grunge I've seen for many years, it was a great tribute to Nirvana, to how improvised, chaotic and real was that movement in the 90's and that pushed me not to stay in that style of rock, but it gave me the impulse to listen to other styles within rock, but apart from all those interpretations, I think there was one that stood out and that I didn't get from the beginning and that was the performance of Violet Grohl, daughter of Dave who interpreted "All Apologies"; at first I thought that she didn't show attitude or that even though she didn't imitate Kurt with her voice (something impossible), she still felt withdrawn and that made me look for live videos of Nirvana playing that song and I was left with two concerts, one where Kurt looks tired, he forgets the lyrics of the song, he improvises, but he still shows all the power of his voice; the other performance is the MTV Unplugged, a clean performance, better produced, but with a Kurt with a different attitude, motivated, calm and that is exactly what makes this performance impressive, because his voice with so much strength when it is necessary seems to come from another person and not from what Kobain transmits and when I saw that, I immediately thought that this performance influenced the young Violet and seeing several times her interpretation makes me think that this is a great and true tribute to the band, one where new generations can really know what Nirvana and others have done in the world of music.
