Hoy nos fuimos al casco histórico y nos llevamos la sorpresa que se estaba llevando a cabo la celebración del corpus Christi cusqueños asi que me quede a distrutar de este hermoso espectáculo

Historia del Corpus Christi
En la época de los Incas, había muchas fiestas dedicadas a los ancestros y dioses. Entre ellos tenemos al Taita Inti, la diosa Killa, Kuychi, etc., los cuales significaban mucho para ellos. Por supuesto, la festividad más importante de ellas es la fiesta en honor al Inti (sol) y en la antigüedad se solía sacar en procesión las momias de sus altos soberanos como antesala.

No obstante, los españoles quedaron asombrados con lo que veían y aprovecharon la festividad en su proceso de “evangelización”. Por ello, en 1572, se decidió reemplazar la procesión de momias con la procesión de los 15 santos y vírgenes en lo que hasta hoy se conoce como el Corpus Christi Cusqueño.

¿Cómo se celebra el Corpus Christi?

Habíamos mencionado que esta era una gran festividad y, como no puede ser de otra forma, la organización previa también debe darse a lo grande. Los anfitriones, también conocidos como “carguyoq”, son los encargados de ofrecer comida, bebidas y una banda de músicos para acompañar a los fieles en la salida de los santos.

Por cierto, la gastronomía cusqueña es algo a destacar, especialmente en estas fechas. El Chiri Uchu es el plato emblemático del Corpus Christi y no te lo puedes perder por nada del mundo.

En la víspera de la celebración eucarística del Corpus Christi, los santos parten desde sus respectivas iglesias o templos, fielmente acompañados de su feligresía entre danzas y música característica de la región. Uno creería que se encuentran muy cerca del recinto principal, pero muchas de ellas se ubican incluso hasta más de 10 km de la plaza central.

Los santos tienen como destino el Arco de Santa Claro, y luego la Iglesia de San Pedro, donde podremos presenciar la entrega simbólica de llaves de la catedral por parte de San Pedro a San Antonio. Los santos reunidos dan inicio a la procesión de entrada hasta llegar a la catedral, lugar donde pasarán una semana entera hasta la octava.

Today we went to the historic center and we were surprised that the celebration of Corpus Christi from Cusco was taking place, so I stayed to enjoy this beautiful spectacle.

History of Corpus Christi

On the eve of the Eucharistic celebration of Corpus Christi, the saints depart from their respective churches or temples, faithfully accompanied by their parishioners amid dances and music characteristic of the region. One would think that they are very close to the main venue, but many of them are even more than 10 km from the central square.

The saints have as their destination the Arco de Santa Claro, and then the Church of San Pedro, where we can witness the symbolic delivery of the keys to the cathedral by San Pedro to San Antonio. The assembled saints begin the entrance procession until they reach the cathedral, where they will spend a whole week until the eighth

Luego de una misa realizada en idioma quechua en la catedral de Lima los fieles salieron a las calles para realizar sus danzas y cantos en Quechua en honor a sus dioses y es parte de lo que veremos a continuación , con indumentarias bastante coloridas

Allí comparti un rato con ellos disfrutando de sus danzas tradicionales

Luego que cada grupo se dividió a sus sedes en Lima en dónde continuará la celebración hasta el 24 de junio que volverán al Cusco a celebrar el dia de el dios INTI (Sol)

Fui invitado a la fiesta pero no pude ir
Así que me despedí de ellos y les agradecí por todo terminado así mi recorrido en la festividad tradicionales del Cusco en Lima.

So I said goodbye to them and thanked them for everything, thus ending my journey in the traditional festivities of Cusco in Lima.
