He estado alejada de la comunidad pero recordé que hay una banda que me apasiona mucho y que está de regreso luego de unos cuantos años de descanso. Es The Neighborhood una de las mejores bandas que he escuchado en mi adolescencia y ahora como adulta es inevitable no sentir nostalgia por los recuerdos que me traen sus canciones, hoy no hablaré de las canciones de su nuevo album o al menos las que han sacado, sino que me gustaría hacer el recorrido de como los conocí y de cuáles han sido las canciones que más me han gustado de la banda 🎶🩶

I've been away from the community, but I remembered that there is a band that I am very passionate about and that is back after a few years of hiatus. It's The Neighborhood, one of the best bands I listened to as a teenager, and now as an adult, it's impossible not to feel nostalgic for the memories their songs bring back. Today, I'm not going to talk about the songs on their new album, or at least the ones they've released, but rather I'd like to talk about how I discovered them and which of their songs I've liked the most 🎶🩶

Todo comenzó en el año 2013, en esos tiempos era muy activa con mi cuenta de Twitter y llegué a conocer personas increíbles dentro de la plataforma. Entre las personas que conocí había una chica que recomendaba siempre buena música sobre todo de géneros que nunca había escuchado como el indie o rock alternativo. Ella recomendó una canción y enseguida los busque por Youtube y me encantó como toda adolescente 😅. La banda se llama The Neighborhood y la voz principal es de Jesse Rutherford quien realmente tiene una voz muy angelical y suave, así que dentro de las canciones su voz resuena mucho y hace que se sientan aún más divertidas las letras.

It all started in 2013. At that time, I was very active on Twitter and got to know some incredible people on the platform. Among the people I met was a girl who always recommended good music, especially genres I had never heard before, such as indie and alternative rock. She recommended a song, and I immediately looked it up on YouTube and loved it, like any teenager would 😅. The band is called The Neighborhood, and the lead singer is Jesse Rutherford, who has a truly angelic and soft voice. His voice resonates throughout the songs and makes the lyrics even more enjoyable.

La banda comenzó en el 2010-2011 si no me equivoco y no fue sino hasta el 2013 que los empecé a escuchar. Realmente se volvieron bastante populares sobre todo porque esa época estaba muy de moda el estilo "indie" o "alternativo", por lo que a mi aunque me gustaba mucho este estilo y aun me sigue gustando sentí que por primera vez descubría algo que me gustaba diferente a lo que siempre escuchaba que era mucha música pop en inglés y español o baladas. Jesse tiene un porte de chico peligroso y de alguien que no le da mucha importancia a lo que otros digan, al menos esa fue la impresión que me dió cuando lo ví en un video por primera vez.

The band started in 2010-2011 if I'm not mistaken, and it wasn't until 2013 that I started listening to them. They really became quite popular, especially because the "indie" or "alternative" style was very fashionable at the time, so even though I really liked this style and still do, I felt like I was discovering something I liked that was different from what I always listened to, which was mostly pop music in English and Spanish or ballads. Jesse has the air of a dangerous guy and someone who doesn't care much about what others say, at least that was the impression I got when I saw him in a video for the first time.

El álbum que escuche primero fue I Love You que se lanzó en el año 2013 y que cuenta con 11 canciones de las cuales se que gran parte de ellas se hicieron virales, sin embargo, yo escuché más que todo tres de este álbum que fueron las que más sonaron en esos tiempos. La primera es Afraid, es una canción con un ritmo muy indie y alternativo que muestra como el artista canta desde una perspectiva de la vida en la que tiene miedo de ser el mismo, busca de alguna manera mostrar ese lado vulnerable y esa guerra que tiene con su propia mente. Es una canción profunda que a pesar de ser muy movida también se puede sentir los instrumentos haciéndola mucho más oscura, es una de mis favoritas de The Neighborhood y creo que fue la primera que escuche de la banda.

The first album I listened to was I Love You, released in 2013, which has 11 songs, most of which went viral. However, I mainly listened to three songs from this album, which were the most popular at the time. The first is Afraid, a song with a very indie and alternative rhythm that shows how the artist sings from a perspective of life in which he is afraid to be himself, seeking in some way to show that vulnerable side and the war he has with his own mind. It's a deep song that, despite being very lively, also has instruments that make it much darker. It's one of my favorites by The Neighbors, and I think it was the first one I heard by the band.

Flawless es sin duda otra de mis favoritas y de las más populares del album, también como la anterior empieza contando una historia sobre dos personas y una relación que tienen en la que es bastante tóxica la forma en la que ambos interactúan. El ritmo es muy pegadizo y la forma en la que Jesse canta la canción es increíble, es de las mejores canciones indie/alternativo que he escuchado y aunque deben haber muchas buenas, está tiene un toque personal y único de la banda que hace que sean tan populares incluso en personas que no suelen escuchar este tipo de géneros musicales. Es de mis preferidas y me recuerda mucho cuando tenía unos dieciséis años, amaba demasiado escuchar esta banda y sentirme especial🫣😅

Flawless is undoubtedly another of my favorites and one of the most popular songs on the album. Like the previous song, it begins by telling a story about two people and their relationship, in which the way they interact with each other is quite toxic. The rhythm is very catchy, and the way Jesse sings the song is incredible. It's one of the best indie/alternative songs I've ever heard, and although there must be many good ones, this one has a personal and unique touch from the band that makes them so popular even among people who don't usually listen to this type of music. It's one of my favorites and reminds me a lot of when I was about sixteen. I loved listening to this band and feeling special🫣😅

No puede faltar la más popular entre todos los álbumes que tiene The Neighborhood como banda, si les hablo de Sweater Weather. Quien no se imaginó múltiples escenarios con esta canción jaja, además de que tiene un ritmo super chévere como las canciones anteriores, tiene una letra que se te queda en la mente por lo divertida y tan acorde con el ritmo. Está también cuenta un poco la historia de una relación en la dos jóvenes están apasionadamente enamorados y quieren saber, conocer y amar cada parte de ellos mismos, es una canción muy sensual aunque algunos pueden considerarla romántica, ya eso queda al gusto de cada uno, a mí me encantó esta canción desde el primer día y disfrute mucho de la historia.

You can't miss the most popular of all The Neighborhood's albums as a band, Sweater Weather. Who hasn't imagined multiple scenarios with this song, haha? In addition to having a super cool rhythm like the previous songs, it has lyrics that stick in your mind because they're so fun and in tune with the rhythm. It also tells a little bit of the story of a relationship in which two young people are passionately in love and want to know, understand, and love every part of each other. It's a very sensual song, although some may consider it romantic, but that's up to each person's taste. I loved this song from the first day and really enjoyed the story.

The Neighborhood como banda tiene éxitos increíbles en cada uno de sus álbumes y aunque no les seguí el ritmo y aún me falta mucho por escuchar de ellos en sus otros álbumes, pienso que este salió en un momento de mi vida en el que significó el crecimiento como persona y también la maduración en cuanto a gustos musicales. El arte que ellos hacen es demasiado genial, desde las letras, los ritmos y los video musicales que tienen cada uno su propia forma de atrapar aún más la idea del cantante. El género indie y indie/alternativo se volvió uno de mis favoritas desde ese momento y espero poder escuchar su próximo álbum muy pronto. 🩶🎶

The Neighborhood as a band has incredible hits on each of their albums, and although I didn't keep up with them and still have a lot to listen to on their other albums, I think this one came out at a time in my life when it meant growth as a person and also maturation in terms of musical tastes. The art they create is so cool, from the lyrics and rhythms to the music videos, each of which has its own way of further capturing the singer's idea. The indie and indie/alternative genres became some of my favorites from that moment on, and I hope to hear their next album very soon. 🩶🎶
