ThreeTuneTuesday - The Small Faces

avatar

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.

This week we go back in time to listen to some great rock tunes by The Small Faces. They are an under-rated band from the 60s with some great hits.

But first, for those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

The first song is probably their most well-known song and it still is great to listen to even after being played so much. I was wondering if there was actually a park called Itchycoo Park anywhere, but could not find one.

The song was also released as a dance remix in 1995 by M People. It is very different to the original though and you cannot beat the chemistry between Steve and Ronnie I think.

The next song is a really fun one and makes me think back to Sundays in my childhood. Back then, everything used to be closed on a Sunday and time was running so slowly. We didn't have anything to watch on TV except The Waltons and that was also sometimes in black and white!

The final tune is probably my favorite with a memorable rift though and makes me think of the 60s. It shows the magnificent talent of Steve. I almost think at one point in the song that he will sing "I don't need no .... satisfaction", but he isn't a Rolling Stone..

The winner from last week's 5 LEN token giveaway was @whywhy Congratulations!

GIVEAWAY - WIN 5 LEN TOKENS

For a chance to win 5 LEN tokens, all you need to do is write in the comments your favorite Small Faces tune (if any). The winner will be drawn randomly and announced in the next post.

Happy musical Tuesday everyone, thanks for listening.

Hard to get to the stuff from so called 'free internet' when you are in Iran, China... or Russia.

This is what I got for two songs you choose, cant see even the titles. But I listened to the third one, and enjoyed the visuals a lot. That is the real eccence of the Swinging London, very sixties-esque. Lovely!

Ah thats a shame. Did you try to use TorBrowser? You can set your in/out country as you wish when browsing.

https://www.torproject.org/download/

I love the last song, its one of my favourites.

I suspect if I had the songs names I'd get them from YT (they must not be that exclusive stuff?..)

As for the Tor, no, I dont use it, frankly speaking I am afraid to use it cause... well, there are reasons. (Offtop; if you are curious: Tor still do not give you 100% security, but on another hand, it is alerting the corresponding government services whose job is to 'serve and protect' to spy at the citizens, a person using Tor browser is like... its momentarily alerts them in such a way, they label said person as 'this is one who has something to hide, due to that he is definitely our target'. I.e. not using Tor in given circumstances looks like a preferrable option to not be labelled as suspicious citizen and thus escape their attention).

I am often thinking the same way, but I guess they dont care if you watching youtube too much. But I wonder then if a VPN would also work? (to see the video, not being marked as suspicious citizen).

That is a fascinating question. So I had to presearch it...

They called themselves the Small Faces. 'Small', because all members were shorter than average, and 'Face' being a Mod term given to the most highly regarded of the Mods.

See someone does their homework!

Awesome job finding this out. This makes sense now but what do they mean by Mod term? I never heard this before

Mod was a term to group people, similar to punks, or rockers. They mostly drove mopeds.

They must have really been underrated as this is my first time hearing their tunes. My favorite of the trio is the last;tin soldier.

The second tune tho, what language was that at the beginning?

Tin Soldier is a great tune. Thanks for your choice.

The language at the very beginning was German,as they were on German TV show by the looks of it.

Funny how I'm taking a German course and I didn't understand a thing they said. How tragic😅

Thank you for the clarification.

all you need to do is write in the comments your favorite Small Faces tune

All you need to do??? Are you kidding? This is like asking me to pick my favourite child!

Firstly, I understand that you had to leave out some of my kids. Ogden's Nut Gone Flake was probably never a contender. But leaving out Sha La La La Lee and All or Nothing must have been hard. Though I love all 3 of your picks with all my heart, Itchycoo Park has always been special for me.

I remember being bored out of my mind as a 14-year-old babysitter. When my neighbours had no concept of "time to go home" and the telly had finished. (Yes, young people - we had a thing called The Epilogue that told us enough was enough). Anyway, I put the reel-to-reel tape on (sorry again, youngsters) and after half an hour or so, my mind was blown by Itchycoo Park. Rewind. It's all too beautiful. Rewind. All come out to groove about. Rewind. Rewind. Rewind.

Later in life, I also discovered the joys of The Elmer nightclub in Shipley. So I understand their need to stay out. And thank them for Itchycoo Park. Also, some good Kinks and other stuff on that tape.

But, I'm gonna say my favourite is E Too D which really deserves to be heard more.

You got Jagger from Tin Soldier (quite rightly). I get Plant from E Too D. 2 Rockers from the Mods. But it's all just great music. Thank you.
