ThreeTuneTuesday - Original Pirate Material

(Edited)

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.
For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

This week we hit the streets with Mike Skinner and some songs from the early to mid-2000s. These were some iconic songs around the early 2000s which were sort of rap/garage or how would your describe them?

In his first release, he looks so young now. Mike is actually the same age as me and that is hard to believe when I think about it now.

The first song I remember was Has It Come To This and I liked the tune when it was released. It was something new and different to all the pop tunes being churned out.

Probably his most famous song is Fit But Don't You Know. It was a catchy tune but I think could get annoying quickly! haha In the video are some clips from the iconic film The Football Factory which was about fighting between football fans.

My favorite song of all though is Blinded By The Lights. The video seems to highlight the drink and drug culture that may or may not have been around at that time. This is showing in my opinion the bad side (is there a good side?) of this and as with the last video, it seemed to escalate with violence. If ever a reason to not consume them, these songs seem to show how it will come to no good.

Very fashionable at the time was wearing Burberry or Stone Island clothes and I see that Mike had his scarf on.

Do you have a favorite The Streets tune?

The winner from last week's 5 LEN token giveaway was @saydie Congratulations!

I'm currently in class in school and I thought to click on the first link with my earphone plugged in, guess what?

It sounded like something I have came across before but I don't know where.
I'll take my time to listen to the rest after lecturers today.
Thanks for sharing!

I dont know if you need to tbh. As far as I understand the T&C of youtube, sharing embedded videos is allowed usage and a condition of upload.

Ya that's what I thought too but I meant hive T&C hehe cause it's technically not our content but we do give our own comments on it so that's the only thing original I guess?

I love your dedication to sharing great entries. I tried to see a connection in the tunes and it is really difficult. First of all they are songs about street life.
Also, the songs are moderately slow songs with good raps amd I see people walking and singing
Weldone man for sharing

Thank you for checking them out. I am not sure if the songs are about portrayal of English youth culture from 2000s. I hope you are well my friend.

I've never heard of this band before. Interesting stuff for sure. I'm kind of glad I was never part of that the whole drug culture. I don't think there were many people doing blow in out in the country when I was younger :)

Have things changed these days then? There were many people into them when I was growing up, I dont know if things are different these days though.

I think it was just the area I grew up in. I grew up out in the country. I think the hardest thing most people did was drink alcohol.

Thats a good thing then. I dont see any of this culture here now, but then I am also out in the country and dont go in those circles.

Yeah, that could be. I think it still happens, but it is just less. That or it is more isolated to the rich folks and I am not even close to one of those!

Holy crap, I haven't heard these songs in about 15 years...at least consciously. The tracks were really popular in our clique for a while! Those were good times, my goodness how fast time flies.
Thanks for bringing back those great memories!

Blinded by the Lights was definitely not Blinded by the Light. Still fun though!

The Streets man, that's a serious throw back, that first album of his was quality and I listened to it a lot back then. Great production, although not great live, I saw him at a festival in Ireland and it was a terrible set, but definitely had some great tunes.

Thanks Ablaze, I can imagine that they were not so good live.. he doesnt seem to have the vocals.

No he does not, but the studio work was quality to be fair, and that first album got loads of plays on my sound system, so it was quite nostalgic listening..
