ThreeTuneTuesday - 3 Venues 3 Tunes

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

3t3v2.jpg

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.
For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

OK, with the formalities out of the way, this week's ttt is a little bit different. I am going to take you back into time where I was visiting a venue and a tune that I remember listening to at the time and tie to this place.

The first place was one of the first ever pubs that I started frequenting called The Crown. It was a bit of a dingey place and I remember that we couldn't all get in their together at the time so needed to split into pairs so that we could get around the bouncers. This was so that they wouldn't think we were a large group of lads.

Music being played in places was generally pretty naff everywhere, and this place was no exception. However, being not so used to alcohol at the time, after a few pints, most songs seemed ok except those really cheesy ones that could empty the dancefloor very quickly.

Very in-vogue was this Hot Stepper tune and you could move to it with a pint in your hand still which was always a bonus.

The next venue was called The Reflex which was a pub cum nightclub chain in many cities. They were commonly known as 80s Bars. I quite liked the one in Nottingham which is apparently permanently closed now. I guess 80s music is not so cool anymore.

This was a good place to go to on a Thursday or Tuesday as other places were not so busy and if you want to be somewhere lively and meet people, it was a good choice.. sometimes.

The staff would often wear reflex t-shirts or t-shirts sayings Frankie says Relax or other such phrases. The music was cheesy 80s tunes and yeah, after a few pints you could find yourself dancing around to Billy Ocean or some A-ha!

The final song is a memory from The Matrix Club in East Berlin that for me symbolises the end of the cheesy EuroPop/Dance era. The Matrix Club was a good haunt which I would like to visit on a Thursday night and it was under a railway bridge on Warschauer Str. station. The club is still running strong today. I have many a memory of leaving here at in the morning and it was bright light and taking the first trains back home in the morning.

They used to have some good value drinks on and I was keen on the Desperado Tequilla Beer that cost something like €1,50 at the time. They also have a camera person working there and it was fun to get your picture taken to appear on the website the next week.

This song gets in your head and it is hard to shake it out. The video is probably one of the worst I have ever seen. But it is reminiscent of the EuroPop era that seemed to disappear faster than it appeared.

Do you have a favorite venue that you went to?

The first track was the only one I knew, although I didn't remember the video clip - it's a marvel! It features the most famous faces of the fashion world in the 90s. It brought back a lot of memories, thanks Steve. 🤗

Thank you so much! I was curious why I received some tokens from you, but this explains it! The Tarantino music was lucky for me :)

My favorite venue would have to be Madison Square Garden. Although there are plenty I haven't been to.

Here Comes The Hotstepper!!!! Proper old school, a great one to get you up for a boogie.... Class....

They used to have some good value drinks on and I was keen on the Desperado Tequilla Beer that cost something like €1,50 at the time.

Serious value that, I remember a night club here that used to do double Vodka and red bull for €2 on Thursdays during my Uni days... It used to be madness, lot's of very very very messy drunk students!

Cool Idea for the trio this week, From Paris to Berlin sounds very familiar, but not sure where I heard it before, maybe in a movie or something.. Or maybe it was Bogarts (the club I mention above) after lots of double vodka and red bulls!!

That sounds really good compared to today's prices. I used to love redbull and vodka back in the day too. I think you always have a better time when the drinks are cheaper! lol
