ThreeTuneTuesday // 3 Death Metal songs
As everyone knows, rock and metal have a wide variety of subgenres to suit all tastes. I have already mentioned that power metal and progressive metal are my favorite genres. However, that doesn't mean I don't listen to other genres that I also really like. Today, I'm going to talk about three very particular Death Metal songs that I really like, as well as their bands. I want to make it clear that I'm only showing you one song, but what I really want to highlight are the bands themselves. I also want to make it clear that there are other Death Metal bands that I also really like.
For those who are not familiar with the Death Metal genre, it is more aggressive than Power Metal or Progressive Metal, but it has qualities that make it quite appealing. One of them is the use of guttural vocals, which are undoubtedly one of its main characteristics, but we also have very fast drums, very fast guitars, spectacular guitar solos, and a lot of technicality. It is undoubtedly a genre that can be complex to play. But anyway, the important thing here, or the idea, is that you can confirm this for yourselves through this post. So, below you will find three very interesting Death Metal songs.

The first song you're going to hear is “Meet Your Maker” by the Swedish band In Flames, which has been active since the early 90s and is considered a pioneer in the genre. Right now, they don't have all their original members, but their vocalist, Anders Fridén, is one of the oldest and has led this band through different stages, in which they have changed their style and way of expressing their music a lot. However, I think this song is a prime example of the version of this band that I like the most. I want to point out that one of my favorite guitarists, Chris Broderick, is part of the lineup, coming from a long stint in the famous band Megadeth. The music video is very well made, with high quality and dynamic shots that undoubtedly make the video one in which what you see and hear is in perfect harmony.

What you are about to hear is pure Death Metal history. The American band Death, with their song “Lack of Comprehension,” which blows my mind every time I hear it, is one of the most spectacular things I have ever heard since I started listening to rock and metal. This song features quite impressive technical skill on each of the instruments, and in my opinion, it's an example of what I would like to play if I had a Death Metal band. Of course, I'm nowhere near that level right now, but it's a sound that I really like. Unfortunately, this band was only active until 2001, as its vocalist and leader, Chuck Schuldiner, died of cancer around that time. I firmly believe that if the band were still active, they would be doing incredible things and would undoubtedly be a leading exponent for those who love the death metal genre.

Last but not least, from Finland, we have the band Children of Bodom. This band also created a sound that I really like, as it incorporates many synthetic or synthesizer elements that created a very interesting atmosphere for the themes they wanted to implement in their music and sound. As with the previous band, the vocalist passed away a few years ago, so the band is not currently active, although I understand that there are some things in the works to reactivate it. In this song called “Hate Me,” you can hear a keyboard that speaks volumes about what they do with their music and their very original style. It was precisely because of this song that I discovered this band, and from then on I kept listening to it, as well as their other albums.

You were able to see and hear a small sample of three great exponents of the Death Metal genre. Obviously, they are quite different bands, but they share the same style, which lends itself to different variations and allows the creativity of each musician to stand out, leaving a personal touch and a unique sub-style. You only need to listen to one song from each of these bands to recognize them, and that is undoubtedly very commendable. So, I shared three Death Metal songs that I really wanted you to hear so that you could immerse yourselves a little in this sub-world that has so much to offer.
