Hive Music Festival Week 151 - Round 1 // Lithium (Bass Cover) By @musicandreview
Better late than never, I'm sharing my participation in week 151 – round 1 of the Hive Music Festival. This time, I'm bringing a song from a band that I haven't paid much attention to in my bass covers since I started doing them. In fact, I've never played one of their songs in this format before. The first and only time I played a Nirvana song was in March 2022 with my old guitar in the Q Inspired-by-Music community with the song “The Man Who Sold the World.” Well, it must be said that the song is actually an original by David Bowie, but I discovered it thanks to the famous grunge band mentioned above.
So today I'm sharing “Lithium,” one of the most symbolic songs from Nirvana's album Nevermind, which was released way back in 1991. That album is perhaps the best by Nirvana and the grunge genre in general. I honestly don't think there's another that surpasses the influence and success that this one had. I chose this song because I think the bass composition is great, even though the genre is not usually so demanding instrumentally, so I dedicated myself to enjoying the process and having fun.
Tarde, pero seguro, comparto mi participación en la semana 151 – ronda 1 del Hive Music Festival. En esta oportunidad traigo una canción de una banda que quizá no le he prestado mucha atención en mis cover de bajo desde que los estoy haciendo, de hecho, nunca he tocado una canción de ellos en éste formato. La primera vez y única vez que he tocado una canción de Nirvana fue en marzo del año 2022 con mi antigua guitarra en la comunidad Q Inspired-by-Music con la canción “The Man Who Sold the World”, y bueno, hay que decir que en realidad la canción es original de David Bowie, sin embargo, la conocí fue gracias a la famosa banda de grunge antes mencionada.
Es así que hoy comparto “Lithium”, una de las canciones más simbólicas del álbum Nevermind de Nirvana, mismo que fue lanzado en el ya lejano 1991. El mencionado álbum es quizá el mejor de Nirvana y del género grunge en general, la verdad no creo que haya otro que supere la influencia y éxito que éste tuvo. Elegí esta canción porque me parece que la composición del bajo es genial aun y cuando el género no suele ser tan exigente a nivel instrumental, así que me dediqué a disfrutar del proceso y a divertirme.

To record this bass cover I downloaded the song from the band's official Youtube channel, then, I used the Moises application to remove the original bass line, that way I could record a completely clean line. I applied a couple of effects to give prominence to the bass since it is obviously the central element in my performances, but I tried not to overdo it in modifying the original sound previously recorded. I hope my presentation this week is to everyone's liking, I really like to humbly share my bass covers with the community, best regards!
Para grabar éste cover de bajo descargué la canción del canal oficial de Youtube de la banda, luego, usé la aplicación Moises para eliminar la línea de bajo original, de esa forma pude grabar una línea completamente limpia. Apliqué un par de efectos para dar protagonismo al bajo ya que evidentemente es el elemento central en mis presentaciones, pero traté de no exagerar en modificar el sonido original previamente grabado. Espero que mi presentación de ésta semana sea del agrado de todos, de verdad me gusta compartir humildemente mis covers de bajo con la comunidad. ¡Un fuerte abrazo!
