Hive Music Festival Week 126 - Round 3 // Megalomaniac (Bass Cover) By @musicandreview
I'm going to start this post being very honest with you, I'm not a fan of the band Incubus, I know they have a long musical career and hits, but I've never been able to connect with the music they make, and well, this obviously doesn't detract from how good they are, it's just a very personal perception. However, there is one song that I did click with and that is precisely the one I am sharing with you today, why this one and not others, well, I guess the catchy riffs and the interesting lyrics are the reasons that brought me closer to connect with this song in particular.
“Megalomaniac” is a song from 2004 and is from the album “A Crow Left of the Murder...”, from that album I also remember the song “Talk shows on mute”, maybe MTV is responsible for me still remembering these things. The truth is that this bass cover was a lot of fun to do because the song is very dynamic and changing, so I had to be very attentive, but at the same time I had a very nice time practicing it. Another aspect I had fun with was adding the sound effect that I thought was most appropriate, I tried not to vary too much from the original, but I wanted to give it my personal touch.
Voy a iniciar éste post siendo muy honesto con ustedes, no soy fan de la banda Incubus, sé que tienen un largo andar musical y de éxitos, pero nunca he podido conectar con la música que ellos hacen, y bueno, esto evidentemente no desmerita lo buenos que son, solo es una percepción muy personal. Sin embargo, hay una canción con la que sí hice clic y esa es precisamente la que hoy estoy compartiendo con ustedes, ¿por qué ésta sí y otras no?, bueno, supongo que los pegajosos riffs y la interesante letra son los motivos que me acercaron a compaginar con ésta canción en particular.
“Megalomaniac” es una canción del año 2004 y corresponde al álbum “A Crow Left of the Murder...”, de ese álbum también recuerdo la canción “Talk shows on mute”, quizá MTV es el responsable de que aún recuerda éstas cosas. Lo cierto es que éste cover de bajo fue muy divertido de hacer ya que la canción es muy dinámica y cambiante, así que tuve que estar muy atento, pero a su vez pasé un rato muy agradable practicándola. Otro aspecto con el que me divertí fue agregando el efecto de sonido que más me parecía adecuado, traté de no variar mucho respecto al original, pero quise darle mi toque personal.

To record this bass cover I downloaded the song from the band's official Youtube channel, then, I used the Moises application to remove the original bass line, that way I could record a completely clean line. I applied a couple of effects to give prominence to the bass since it is obviously the central element in my performances, but I tried not to overdo it in modifying the original sound previously recorded. I hope my presentation this week is to everyone's liking, I really like to humbly share my bass covers with the community, best regards!
Para grabar éste cover de bajo descargué la canción del canal oficial de Youtube de la banda, luego, usé la aplicación Moises para eliminar la línea de bajo original, de esa forma pude grabar una línea completamente limpia. Apliqué un par de efectos para dar protagonismo al bajo ya que evidentemente es el elemento central en mis presentaciones, pero traté de no exagerar en modificar el sonido original previamente grabado. Espero que mi presentación de ésta semana sea del agrado de todos, de verdad me gusta compartir humildemente mis covers de bajo con la comunidad. ¡Un fuerte abrazo!

Sometimes it happens that we don't like a band in particular, but we manage to connect with at least one of their songs, for whatever reason, we like something about that song, but not the band, it usually happens haha 😂
