3 versions that did justice to the original work

As everyone knows, in the world of music there are versions or covers, these have several purposes such as, for example, pay tribute, take advantage of the success of the song, among others that depend on the intentionality of the artist who performs it. Throughout time many of these works have been made and some have passed without shame or glory, but others have left an indelible mark in history because the artists have been able to adapt these songs to their own styles and in some cases have even improved the song in some aspects that enhance the original work.

So I will share with you 3 versions or covers that did not go unnoticed, each one has its own particularity and each one has its own background. I must repeat that the intentionality of the artist is always different, but what I want to highlight is the final work.

I'm going to start with one of the most iconic songs of the Irish band The Cranberries. “Zombie” is one of the songs that got me interested in this band, and although I heard it for the first time thanks to my sister, it stayed in my memory and because of that I listen to it quite often. A personal anecdote of this song is that the first time I tried to play a song on the guitar was precisely Zombie, so that makes it unforgettable for me. This tribute is performed by the American band Bad Wolves, they were totally unknown to me until I saw this video and frankly I was not interested in their music after meeting them, but I must admit that the work they did here is outstanding because at no time they forgot the essence of the song.

The following is one of the greatest hits of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, “Smooth Criminal” is one of those mythical songs that merged perfectly with the music video, and well, how can we forget the anti-gravity step, that, the catchy rhythm, among other things, make this a song that will remain for history. Now, what also remained for history was the version made by the American band Alien Ant Farm, these guys transformed the song to the Rock genre and made this a totally enjoyable piece for those of us who prefer the rock and metal genre. This one has a heavy but bearable sound, at no time does it feel extreme, on the contrary, it has a very balanced sound, and well, the music video is also very well done.

Last but not least, we have a song that I particularly knew thanks to those who made the version. Nirvana popularized this song in their famous MTV Unplugged released in 1994 and I must say that they practically made it their own, of course, I am not saying with this that they have all the credits, those evidently belong to the British singer-songwriter David Bowie who had already released this song in 1970, so it was not a recent or unknown song when the Unplugged was released. For me Nirvana's version is much better than the original, but that's just my personal opinion, maybe my rock tastes stimulate the fact that the cover version is a historical grunge band that I like a lot.

I love the selection of songs you chose and as you say these versions did justice to the originals and the fact that your first time playing guitar was with one of them makes the selection even more special. It is also true that there are versions of songs that far from doing them justice should not exist.

Yes, I must admit that I always listen to the song Zombie as it has a special meaning. On the other hand, it is true that there are covers of songs that are regrettable, but I guess it is not something that is given to everyone.

Amo zombie, creo que es una canción tan sencilla musicalmente hablando pero con un mensaje poderoso de reflexión..
Hace poco escuché una versión que me encantó de boyce Avenue , me gustó mucho lo que hicieron con los instrumentos.
Saludos
