The Relationship between Children and Music

Musical instruments play a significant role in the relationship between children and music.
There is a strong and cordial relationship between children and musical instruments because learning to play a musical instrument can be of benefit to a child's growth and development.

Over here in Nigeria, children are often introduced to music at a young age, and many parents and families encourage their kids to learn how to play different musical instruments.
We have various types of musical instruments both the traditional musical instrument which consist of the including metal gong, talking drums, flutes, xylophones, drums and many others, These instruments are usually played during traditional concerts and the modern/classical instrument which consist of the violin, piano, guitar. drum. recorder etc.
In some communities, children are taught to play musical instruments because of their religion and cultural practices been done in their community.

The modern musical instruments are played in ceremonies like birthdays, weddings, burial ceremonies etc.
I feel happy when i see a young child present a song with the musical instruments, i admire it a lot. The picture above is my little sister playing the violin at her friend's birthday.

Children can learn how to play different musical instruments through various channels ;like learning from school as a course and through the help of a music teacher or through music tutorials.
Learning to play a musical instrument can improve social skills of a child. It also develops a child cognitively, physically, emotionally. It can also boost their confidence.

In conclusion, the relationship between children and musical instruments can lead to numerous benefits for a child's development.

If you have a child around you, you can encourage him/her to learn how to play at least one musical instrument.
