Feel All the Time

Caught in the shimmer of wavering light,
I watched you leave and didn’t fight.
Under the currents pulling wide,
I miss the tears I tried to hide.

It’s way too late to turn around,
But still I steady shaky ground
And until the soil becomes a wall,
I gather myself through rise and fall.

Afraid of ending up alone,
I let a crooked smile drift on.
And all those words that cut me through
Come creeping back, the way they do.

I open my hand; the sand runs out.
The dirt turns firm, despite my doubt.
All I can do is try again
Stay close to me through what remains.
These leftover seasons, heavy with sighs,
Need someone standing by my side.

Afraid of ending up alone,

Personal note:

I wrote this a while ago, inspired by deep feelings and the song "Feel all the time" by Asian Glow. Originally in Korean, I tried to adapt the emotional weight conveyed by the song into English because I love it, and I would like to perform a cover in the future. The literal content of this adaptation is a bit different from the original lyrics, but it maintains the same feeling and structure. As English is not my first language, I got help finding words that rhyme correctly and to polish the grammar. The image is a piece of art by Jun Mineoka, and it’s the cover of the album "11100011".
