Paul Revere + weightloss math: January 28 2025
Today was rough, but I managed to achieve my goals I set out last night. I completed another full day of food lohhing and slightly increased my activity. Yesterday, I said I wanted to start talking a little bit about the mathematics of weightloss. The above screenshot is from a spreadsheet I made a while ago. It has a few different calculators on it, and the screenshot is the result of the goal calculator. The formula for this calculation is pretty straightforward. It is:
([Current weight] - [Goal weight]) *3500/days from goal weight. = [Deficit target]
[BMR] - [Deficit target] = [Calorie Target]
I'll get into BMR at a later date. Anyway according to my calculator my target intake is 1850. Let's see how I did.
I finished with over 6000 steps today. This meets my goal of slightly higher than yesterday. More importantly, I was able to stay under my calorie goal. Even though I admit that I usually like to leave a little more room in order to cover for margine of error. The 48 zone minutes was due more to me getting out of breath from trying to fix something rather than actually working out. I did a fair amount of walking around the store. I also did a lot of walking around the house today.
Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song was Paul Revere from the Beastie Boys. I've been on an old school rap kick lately. This is a fun story about the Beastie Boys getting into shananegans(sp?). It's a funny song.
Well that's it for today. Tomorrow my goal is to be at a greater deficit.
