Was it four?

... fifty-seven, fifty-eight... fifty-nine... sixty!..

...

Was it four???

I yelled the question at my husband who was in the kitchen.

He didn't remember, but I continued. ... eighty-three, eighty-four...

I was counting the seconds and a few things were hitting my mind. Should I think? Should I stop thinking? Breathe? No, don't breathe. Ok, just breathe and count. Aloud? ..one hundred and twelve, one hundred and thirteen... Just don't think about the pain, and don't give up. I started to feel my arms, the heat in them... the muscles are still resisting but it's the mind that should win the game. My cheeks are burning too. I see on the display of the digital clock placed in front of me hitting the third minute - as I have lost the count, but for a few seconds more I still resist. I don't know why, but I decided to let my body reach the floor and relax my muscles after holding this plank.

In the end, I got the answer: Yes, Margot Robbie held her plank for 4 minutes and 10 seconds. That's nice and admirable, though I am also happy with the shorter time I can do this exercise. I started with 15 seconds a few weeks ago and increased the time day by day.

Why would numbers matter at all? Why would one number make any difference?

Hmm, yes, they are helpful sometimes as we are measuring things with numbers. Years, dates, seconds, notes, distances, heartbeats or even temperatures in these warm days. You can add here what you want but I am getting back to the topic of music.

There is this little composition, Passacaglia by Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935). He picked a theme composed by Georg Friedrich Handel and upon the repetitive bass (the part I play with my left hand) composed variations on that same theme (the part I play with my right hand). That's quite an easy one (no, my student would completely disagree with this as he can't put together both hands in this piece. He stopped today and said it's hard and he doesn't like it anymore 😆) but you have to count how many times the theme appears not to get lost when you match it with the bass. No, I didn't count when I recorded it. And I suggest you don't do it either as maybe there is one variation that I (on purpose) missed out lol.

Plank, piano, numbers. Counting, breathing, Margot Robbie. What was this post about? 😂

Ah, yes, Passacaglia 🎶

🌧 me gustan las gotas de lluvia, thank you for this nice comparison Nanixxx!

What is the situation with the hurricane now?

{sorry for the edit, siempre me como alguna letra 😂}

What a wonder for the ears, relaxing and emotional at the same time. I rather counted the seconds for this music to never end.

Imagine a rainy, winter night, looking out of a window as the drops fall one by one, counting each one and forming puddles that reflect the moonlight.

Beautiful! Thank you very much for this beauty @mipiano ❤️

So the composition really evokes raindrops as also Nanixxx said? I didn't realize it actually, I was busy with counting not counting 😁

I do like rain, so much needed here. 🌧

I myself am very fond of playing the piano since childhood but I have not yet been able to play the way you are playing in this video and it is so much fun to listen to it.

It has been very pleasant to listen to that melody. I also believe that it is the mind that must win the game. That's why I turn to instrumental music when I want to relax. Not only the pianno but honestly i found it very relaxing. I listen to Richard Clayderman, Yanni and Yiruma. Now there is another author to explore. Thanks to you for show me the way.

Oh, Yanni, I heard of him but I haven't explored much of his music, now I will listen to his music while responding to the comments, thanks for mentioning that name. :)

That's a beautiful piece of music, even though I had no idea what you were on about on the bass and the theme. And after watching it, I'm certain that I can never learn to play the piano as there is no way I can coordinate my two hands to do different things at the same time.

I might pickup the plank again, I did it during Covid as there was nothing else to do at home, and got up to over 4 minutes at one stage

I know, the coordination is a bit tricky, I know when I have adult students who just started - that is a challenging thing for them. But everything is possible with a lot of practice.

Plank - and if we make a new community at Hive? Plank community where we could try to motivate each other, once a week or in two weeks share our experience and see if we progressed or not? :) I mean, it is half joke half serious idea now, I see Pumarte also used to do plank but not now, and maybe we also motivate Mr Mipiano to join the "planking gang" :D

It's nice to see in this community more women talking about music, culture, inspiration and above all about life itself and how it is influenced by the art of music in general. i really liked your post and your story. You have great talent. I hope you are well, I send you a huge greeting.

There are many women in Hive who are talented and with excellent artistic skills. You will meet many, and I see you are new at Hive, right? Bienvenida :))

I can't imagine myself doing that for long because I won't even do up to that before I give up

What a wonderfully wandering post ... like what happens if you don't count in the Passacaglia...
