You never know who can be in the audience...

pianoSHA.JPG

Warning: Memories are coming to the Q-inspired corner this Sunday afternoon. They were triggered this morning at my gig when a lady came and asked me did I just played a piece by Jamie Duffy. After my confirmation, she said she knew him in person!

...That you know him in person???

I was more than surprised!!

I know that sometimes there are musicians among the guests or people who are friends with musicians, but still, talking to someone who has direct connections to a piece I have just played is a nice feeling. I sent him my regards 😊

Then I remembered the following scene...

Year: 2017.

Place: A Wellness Clinic where I used to play for one year on a transparent piano. Not just this beautiful Yamaha piano from the photo made those evenings enjoyable but also the collaboration with my violinist colleague with whom we played together. She became a good friend of mine, although we started just as colleagues. The time we spent together practising and then performing, chitchatting during our breaks between playing created some stronger bonds. {We had some photos doing silly things at one of the breaks 😆 but those photos were lost when her phone broke...}

Of course, we also worked diligently - played our instruments with joy. We were there to bring a nice musical background to the healthy dinners and gorgeous views of the bay from the transparent walls, not just to have fun 😅. The guests used to approach us and thank us for the music, but that was nothing new. They usually do that.

A different dialogue happened when a musician came and introduced himself. He was a singer-songwriter from Madrid who was spending some weeks in this place and happened to hear us playing. Moreover, he was a nice gentleman with manners. We spent some considerable time talking to him so we learned about his new album, the musicians he collaborated with and the songs he wrote.

IMG_20230917_122108.jpg

A couple of months passed and we still played at the same place and guess what happened!? Gastón, the musician we talked to visited the complex again and this time he brought us the new album he released. I was a proud owner of this album and listened to it at home, especially to the song Hoy que la luna llena.

The song had a nice solo part for the violin at the beginning and that's why Gastón suggested we could play it if we liked it.

Yes, why not? :)

After a few days of listening and noting down the chords and the melody, we had the song under our fingers! I don't remember whether it was a full moon or not the evening we performed the song, but our piano & violin version made the composer feel grateful. We were grateful too to meet him and have this opportunity to perform his song.

IMG_20230917_122033.jpg

Gastón, si algún día lees este blog te mando un abrazo 😇

Now I should come back to the present, right...? but it was nice to walk down the memory line, to that year, place and musician I met at my work. At the same time, this situation brings me a feeling that I should never ever play in public if I am not well prepared, as I can never know if there is a musician in the audience or the composer of a piece I perform 😁

My dear, I fell in love with that transparent piano. Seeing you sitting in front of him would be the perfect profile photo hehe. Beautiful Sunday memories and it occurs to me that several signed music albums are a great idea for the collecting community, but we have to be lucky enough to meet our idols regularly hehe. It is always a pleasure to read you, I send you a new and forwarded hug with much love...

Oh, I have one photo while I play it but it is a bit blurred, so not suitable for a profile photo. Hahaha, signed music albums would be indeed a great collection, imagine you having all from Shakira 😉

It was a beautiful experience, these are things that happen without expecting it and you feel rejoiced. I imagine your surprise when talking to a direct friend of the composer about the piece you played. Happy Sunday to you.

I think someone who has no musical training cannot recognize how well, or not, someone can play the piano, violin, horn, flute... classical music. I think that unless there are musicians or instrumentalists in the audience, ordinary listeners cannot detect mistakes or poor interpretation, but, as you say, you have to be careful. You never know!
Now, although I don't know how you play, I have an opinion about you, I don't think you are used to being superficial in this regard.

These incidents from concerts and singing can be collected in beautiful memories!

I almost wanted to wish you a nice weekend, I didn't even realize when it had passed. Have a nice and easy week!

It can be heard, if there are mistakes :D
But when I play in these places I don't have to worry as I play pieces I know well. Still, we never know who can be in the audience.

Yeah, the weekend passed just too quickly, so happy start to the week. 😉

Dear mipiano, while I was reading you I was thinking that you have been in many places bringing music, brightening up the lives of others while pressing those black and white keys. You are right, you always have to be prepared... not only for a concert, but for everything. But the preparation comes from your mind and your heart. And in enjoying the process that leads you to that preparation. You always go out looking for it, that's admirable. You go out looking for that perfect horizon with umbrellas, you go out looking for that melody that someone asks you for, or that someone would like to hear, you go out looking for a house and a road and some clouds and some dots and some lines... and in that great journey that is being your life, you find a cat that comes from I don't know what place. (I like your name) and I also like that song that you have shared. It reminds me of a story I wrote many years ago (I have no idea how many, it may just be hours)...but the narrator was asking the protagonist of the story to answer him with a letter he would never write. I had never heard Gaston and how curious, he says "I meet you in my city that I never knew", "I learn you in a thousand chords that I never learned". Almost the same but with other words. I think everything is said in this world, however, the ways of saying are infinitely diverse.

A hug.

{tuve que editar varias veces porque hoy tengo ese problemita un poquito descontrolado} 😅

Yes, I guess we do have to be prepared for everything, even for umbrellas that are not aligned with the horizon hahaha
The song was nice and we gladly prepared it, I played on the piano the guitar part that you hear from the original and my friend the solo violin parts and the voice line.
Gastón writes the words for his songs too, so I suppose you writers know how to express your thoughts and also some universal values, each of you in a unique way 😉

No pasa nada por editar, se pueden enviar unos tokens cuando eso pasa jajaja 😁

Love the see through piano!

Let's say that I am always prepared. If not, then I am nervous and then there are mistakes.

I loved it too 😇

You play excellent piano, I don't think that situation of not being prepared will happen, I don't think so. But if it's true it must be nerve-wracking to know that the author of a song you are playing is in the audience, I would die of nerves!

What a beautiful piano... I kept looking at it and looking at it and what circumstances sometimes happen in life.
Many call them coincidences, I don't... everything is for a reason.

Hug @mipiano ❤️

I do try to be prepared, but you never know with live performances hahaha
There is no repeat button 😁

The piano, I know, so beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn't take it with me home, they would notice it was missing 😂

The piano... take it away! It's transparent who's going to notice its absence... or is it? hahaha🤣

I think the greatest prize is in the feeling of going out and giving your best. When it is this late and early, life presents you with these types of opportunities but the key is to enjoy your daily effort.

I agree, and that is how it actually should be in everything we do - enjoying the effort but also trying to give the best :))

It is a fact that we don't know how people are sitting in Edens and some are good and some are not good, all we have to do is to do our work honestly and with full confidence, then we will be good at this time.

That piano, that view... is simply amazing; I listened to Gaston Barrera's beautiful song and it's great and that you played in front of him is mind blowing 🔥🔥🔥!!!!

What you say is true, when you play live you have to give your best as artists because life gives us pleasant surprises like the one you experienced recently 🙌😀💛

How nice it is to remember, and more so when music is in the middle... have a happy week my dear friend 🌹💖..... You Classically Rockkkkkkk!!!! 👍😉🔥🎙️🎸🎹🎻🎶❤️🌟🥂💥💫💯

Gracias.

It is always a beautiful experience to be able to connect or at least feel connected through art, and though I am not a musician I feel like that connection you were able to feel from those occurrences is why the memories from those times remain dear to you cos I have some similar experiences myself though it's more of tech.

BTW though(unrelated to your post). I noticed that you just started a new community for collectors on Hive(HiveCollectors), I am a software developer and I have some good experience with building frontends and dApps on Hive, I was wondering if you'd like to have a customized frontend/website for your new community with your own domain(e.g hivecollectors.com), something like LeoFinance website but exclusively for HiveCollectors community where users can post only to the community and read posts exclusively posted to the community. If you are interested I'd love to chat more about that with you, looking forward to your feedback on this. Thanks

Memories do stay dear to us if they were pleasant situations or if we got the opportunity to learn something or improve.

Yes, that is my new community, but I didn't think about having a frontend for it at the moment, thanks for the offer anyway ;)

Never play n public when not fully on top of the musical piece? Don't agree. Any musician, producer or whatever person from the music business, must hear you are a great player, even when making an error. I mean, its the way you handle the error. Alternatively, an error also gives a personal touch. You may even 'sell' the error, as intentionally 😉

Such a nice piano, the see-through one. But the big question: Did it sound well? Can't be made from wood, but more like plastic. Does plastic sound as good as wood does?

I will definitely have to do this in 19 days 😂😂

The transparent piano - Yes, it sounded like other, "normal" Yamaha pianos 😇

I would gladly take the risk and go back to check the sound again haha

I took the opportunity to listen to "Hoy Que La Luna Llena" and I really had a good feeling, it is a beautiful song and certainly the violin is special.

What a nice and particular memory, it is one of those that always stay in your mind.
