My thermometer went crazy and brought me a memory

11:00 AM. Lady Themomether announced in her shrill voice that my temperature was taken. The display showed 33.9 °C

Major surprise! What was happening here? I felt warm and my head and eyes were aching. I thought I would have a higher body temperature and not this low, much lower than a body temperature is supposed to be. Anyway, I fell asleep and woke up with a similar feeling. Sore throat and discomfort.

3:48 PM. I called Lady Thermometer again to say me the numbers. 34.0 °C

IMG_20230610_154845.jpg

I was not convinced, it just can't be possible. Am I alive at all? The normal body temperature of any normal person is between 36.5–37.5 °C. I think I got angry with her, and with all this sore throat thing. I got some cranberry juice from the fridge, as a sign of protest.

Another attempt.

35.4 °C

I am pretty sure that this little tool is messing up with me. How it is possible that right now while I am writing this post, and feel sick, my body temperature is this low?

Maybe indeed my world is an upside-down one, and everything is in reverse. My body should be fighting now against my cold with higher temperature, but no, it is doing the opposite.

I wasn't sick for a long time...it was a year ago when I had for the last time cold, or that feeling of a sore throat. We were visiting our families and I think it was my son who got sick the first. Or my niece. Well, after a few days, everybody was with fever, runny nose and cough. I can say I am lucky as I don't usually have a high body temperature when I am sick and I don't have many of those anecdotes connected to having a cold and at the same time a flight that can't be cancelled (my husband), road-trip (husband), piano competition (a little student), Christmas celebration with me (my parents) etc...

Although I do have one very vivid memory of inflammation of my tonsils when I was still in my teenage days. I even have a photo taken the day before the inflammation showed its power.

{btw, this is an entry to the photo-memory-music writing initiative in our Q-inspired-by-music corner. If you like the idea, feel free to join in. All you have to do is to open your old photo albums and let the photos talk to you a story and their connection to music, a song, a concert, a feeling...}

The photo was taken on the banks of the river Danube, on the last day of August. Year?
(a new guessing game, maybe?). This time I will reveal it immediately, it was 1998. I also know who took the photo - the person I spent most of the time with that summer.
We enjoyed the two months of freedom, without school, although I was also practising my piano here and there, but not that diligently as vacations are for enjoying the things you can't do while you have tasks from school.

That summer we went to several concerts that were held in cities like Sombor and Novi Sad (Serbia). We got one of the tickets for free, answering correctly to a question on one radio station. The reward was a ticket for two people to the concert of Disciplin A Kitschme. I don't have photos of those places and live events, we didn't have mobile phones in those years. But I can search in my memory... we went also to live performances of bands like Del Arno Band, Partibrejkers, or Atheist Rap. Those days and music are now behind me, as well as that bad tonsillitis.

The very next day, the first day of September I had to go back to the city where I was attending high school. My mom came with me to help me in cleaning the apartment where I used to live and cook for several days in advance and then I would stay again alone. It was luck that she was there, as this inflammation came out of nowhere, I just felt dizzy in one moment and fell in the corridor. I fainted.

My mother brought me back to consciousness and helped me to reach the bed. Then a thermometer came (which showed a lot higher fever than today's numbers) and a consult with the doctor: medication and going home for ten days.

I missed the first days of the school year, also I was not going to any concerts those days, it was resting, taking the medicine and waiting to get better. Probably I needed that time to tune myself back to classical music and piano pieces after that rocky summer 😁 And what do I need now to get better? Maybe more of that cranberry juice from the fridge and another nap... zzz...

😢 ponte bien ya! Te he imaginado todo el tiempo en esos recuerdos que compartes. Me encanta esa foto.

Mira hazme caso...

Yo soy saludable. Ya estoy curada de este resfriado. Me siento genial."

Gracias!✨
He dormido un poco ahora.

I think that thermometer .... doesn't work, or maybe it does, who knows.

But what I do hope is that you get better very soon!!! Ya!!!

I love the picture of you before the health problem.

You made me think of pictures from when I was a teenager and how I loved and love 80's music, it fascinates me. Especially the slow, romantic ones....

Is there an end date for the initiative?

You brought back some very nice memories, thank you very much! You know? I used to listen to a lot of music all the time but especially in the garden of my house.

Get well soon!❤️

Maybe it doesn't work or it is just messing up with me, the thing is that I had that feeling of having a temperature but the display showed completely different things 😂

The initiative! No, it doesn't have a deadline, it is an open invitation for everyone. Neither there is a limit of times one can participate (of course with different pictures and stories each time ;) )

Although we will launch a new challenge (maybe soon) with another topic, this photo initiative stays (as well as the other, previous initiatives) active :)

And thank you for your wishes :)

Maybe it's just a feeling and nothing more, sometimes tiredness does that. Get some rest.

Thanks for the tip! I have so many things planned!😀

It's such a unfortunate all šljivovica evaporated 😕

Get better soon!

Hahaha, I can try to measure with this thermometer the memories and see how hot they are 😂

Oh, so your mom also had a thermometer that didn't behave well? (I hope she was ok and didn't have any complications)

Yeah, the real medicine from the bottle evaporated... Soon and I can take a new one ;)

Thank you, this will pass quickly. It must haha, there are some upcoming important things and I have to be in full shape for them!

Why don't you buy a new one and see if the result is still the same? It's weird if you have cold but the body is hot..but maybe?
Just get well soon.. Drink more water as well .
I often get inflamed tonsils when drinking or eating cold food consecutively.... So I am into warm or hot drink every day and become used to it and seldom drink cold ones..

Yeah, maybe cold drinks have to do something with sore throat, I took cold Fanta and also went to work with wet hair. The next day it started. Though there are people who say it's better to take cold drinks when your throat is inflamed instead of hot drinks, so I don't know hahahaha

Being Sick Sucks Indeed.
My mind is always filled with things todo and when sick none of those come true. Damn being sick sucks.
It sucks so bed to stay in bed, no fun none of that.
Because being sick sucks indeed.

Hope you feel better already and otherwise soon!

The thermometer did not cooperate. Maybe you need a brand new thermometer for accuracy.

When this is happening and something is not working properly, we should take a new approach, it will save us time and we will know our health better.

Let's say the temperature of 35.4 is not serious, not a freezing principle! Ahahahaha!
Some people have a low body temperature even below 36 degrees and are fine.
Most likely you not feeling well thought you had an alteration in body temperature; but that's not always true.
I wish you well and keep writing!
