Meeting your favourite musician

A few days ago (note to myself - maybe yesterday?) I promised that a new challenge will come to the little Q-inspired community. A challenge, or better say a writing initiative that the core people of this huge team of two discussed already many months ago. We like to see inspiration, meaningful posts, fun, engagement and personal touch, all of which can be read in the description of this writing corner. Sometimes it is not easy to come up with new ideas, other times it is just the little spark that we need to create. Writing initiatives can also be of help if the topic is something that we like. But who would not like to write about attending a concert of a favourite musician or just meeting those musicians in real life? Or in imagination?

Last year I was lucky enough to visit several classical concerts and also I wrote about them. But then summer came and I was determined to attend one out-of-this-world concert where the main protagonist was the exceptional Piano Diva, Martha Argerich. My niece bought us the tickets in advance as I didn't want to miss that unique opportunity to see Martha in real life. She is one of my favourite pianists and truth be said, she is pretty old already. I travelled to Belgrade, to that concert with excitement!! Who knows would I have an opportunity to listen to her ever, in a live performance?

When you visit a concert, there is always a possibility that you can greet the musician, behind the scenes after the performance. This time it didn't happen, I stayed without shaking hands with Martha as the organizers acted with caution and respect for her age. That is understandable, and the decision had to be respected.

It was just that I almost met her. I would probably stay just silent and wouldn't really know how to express my admiration for her life and work. Maybe I would just hug her. Observe her hands, eyes and her beautiful long grey hair. I know! The only thing I would be able to pronounce is that when I grow up, I want to be like her :))

Remembering this event, the old idea came again to my mind to bring a new initiative to the community so I am trying to set up now the prompt. Let's try with some questions that could help see the idea...

Have you ever met in person your favourite musician?

Maybe it is someone that you already knew but later became your favourite artist?

Did you attend his/her concerts and made the meeting happen? How did it happen? What did you feel?

For what artists would you travel to the other side of the world and can you describe such an adventure?

Which artists would you like to spend the night/day with and tell us what you imagine would happen?

We usually don't set strict rules in our challenges - not challenges. But some short guidelines can help... Be creative and have fun while telling us the story of meeting your favourite artist or band. If it didn't happen in reality, you can use your imagination. A huge advantage is if you have your own photos, but if you don't and you decide to use a royalty-free photo, please don't forget to source it properly. We encourage creativity and engagement and discourage low-effort posts (this includes any kind of plagiarism and AI-generated text also). English is the main language we use. Hive users as musicians you would like to meet don't count for this writing initiative. The questions I wrote above serve just as inspiration, they aren't questions you must answer. They are just a guide, but also, you can use some of them as a starting point for your article. This is an open invitation, without a deadline and without the limit of contributions one can bring.

From the neighbour's point of view! An initiative that received a lot of contribution posts, but we seem that forget about it. It has no deadlines anymore, anyone can participate again!

There was a funny one... I called it It can't be true where I pretended that I left behind my instrument, the piano, for a different one. You can read in the post what that funny challenge is and try to bring your instrument you actually don't play.

If it didn't happen in reality, you can use your imagination.
