Feel the light
It's on the loop, I can't stop listening to this song now. The official music video for the latest song by Sade Adu, Young Lion appeared on her YouTube channel two days ago, on November 22, 2024, and it already has 150,128 views. At least those 28 views are mine. Probably more.
If you don't know anything about the background of the song and to whom it is dedicated, then it is even better just to merge into this music for the first time without previous research. It may sound very simple; should I say minimalistic? After a short intro, the rhythm synchronizes with our heartbeats; we hear a beautiful piano and her voice. That's all. The entire song flows slowly, making our minds swing by it. However, it has its depth and weight, leading to a climax where we are touched by the light that Sade Adu conjures up for us. This woman still can sing like a lioness (a tender one) in her beautiful and unique timber. You know, she hasn't released any new song or album since... hmm, since many years ago.
And now she sings about a young lion, well... about her son.
Wait, it's better you listen to the song too and feel the light.
I heard for the first time this song by chance (yeah, I know, nothing is just a mere coincidence) a few days ago while driving to my work as an announcement of the album in which the song will appear. Young Lion, I repeated the name of the song aloud to remember it. Even if I didn't, then I could also search at home for it as I heard it was dedicated to her son, Izaak, a transgender young man.
The song seems to appear as one of the tracks on a transgender awareness compilation album, Transa. I am not here to talk about that topic, as I know there are many different beliefs here on Hive, and we seek just respect in this little community. Respect implies understanding and non-judgment, just feeling the light that overcomes pain. Today, somehow that vibe crawled into my soul and I had to find the song. Since then it doesn't let me listen to any other music (or I don't let the song go haha).
A while ago, like years ago, there was a music-related tag here: SadSunday. I immediately connected the song with sadness, but in the end, it did not stay there. It overcomes the struggles that this great singer and her son could feel in many moments and situations, and most importantly it calls to be brave, to breathe, to feel the light, to embrace unconditional love. So, it is not a Sad Sunday song.
Anyway, I would have to continue with my daily activities; hmm, I am doing some DIY work that might not finish very well but I think I will post about it regardless of the results. If good, then perfect, if not - well, it is also perfect as then we can see how not to do that what I do. 😂
Just one more time to listen to this song... I hope you like this new song by Sade Adu and the message it carries, that every mom should say to their children, whatever their burden is...
...So run down the mountains
Arms open wide
Run down the hills of your dreams
Arms open wide
Feel the light
Shine like a sun...
What an artist and mother she is! 🙇♀
I love Sade! What a beautiful song, I think I've found a new favorite song atm. Thanks for sharing, time to stream
Now we are two who have this song as their favourite one atm ;)
I think it is impossible not to feel this song as one of the most personal expressions that a mother musician can dedicate to her child. 🎶
I don't know if it's because I'm sensitive today but... the song touched me a lot and I felt that light, very emotional to the point of tears, her voice is beautiful, I've loved this artist for years, but in this song... it's strong, it gets to the heartbeat. Thank you!💞
Your post about the exhibition made me the same. And this song too, maybe it's just the day or we indeed found some touching things 😅
It seems we are in tune, yes that song touched me very much...it's beautiful. There are artists that touch the heart and sometimes without understanding the lyrics, it's the vibration of their voice. Have a good night!💞
As it is said, el músico no es quien toca un instrumento, sino quien toca el corazón de los demás. O algo así, no sé si lo escribí bien jajaja. Good night 😴
That's a beautiful phrase, I love it!!! Have a good rest!
It is true that the emotion comes with the interpretation of Sade, a very controversial topic today, it is not yet understood that everyone is as he is and must be respected. I will look for more about her. Interesting your proposal. Nice week.🥰🤗
Hi Mamani ;)
If a song can wake up some emotions in us, then it is a good one, I think ;)
Thank you, I hope your week will be a great one 🪷🦋
