But.
It is just a little word that can change the meaning of a sentence so easily. It can be used as a conjunction, to indicate a contrasting part of a phrase. Also, we can use it as a preposition that in that case bring a different context to our statements. I don't know about you, but I use it many times in my sentences, replacing it sometimes with however, though, on the other hand, yet or similar. (hm, I think that not many options remained, just the word still, so let's add it to the list too).

Before you think that I am going to write a treatise on this short word but I have to clarify why I have started this post in this way. I am not an expert in the English language or in Spanish. If I think better, I don't even know which languge of all those I use is at the highest proficiency level anymore. It's all mixed by now. The more the merrier they say, but in the end, it is not that good. I dream in one language, think in another, speak in the one that the surrounding requires and write in this one you read right now. Anyway... I almost forgot that we were at the part of explaining why did I start this post with the tiny word but. Ok, let's go back to that business and stop again this tape that is not bringing real music.
So, a few weeks ago I saw one sticker on a lamp post, close to the shops where I usually go to do the grocery. Seems that I ignored the presence of this sticker until now as it can be seen that it is not a new one. It looks pretty old and washed out already. I recognized the Spotify logo but the written words didn't make sense: Alles Maar Alleen.
I tried with translation and it came out: All alone.
Luckily, some Hive Dutch friends were kind to help and make a more rounded translation.
Alles maar alleen can also mean All but alone or Everything but alone.
I was nicely surprised, as just that one little word, but, changed the meaning of these unknown words for me. I decided that this second option is what I will accept as the correct version. We can be everything, but we are never alone. Don't forget it!
Everything but alone or All alone, maybe the Dutch users will know it better (tagging here @whywhy, @littlebee4, @edje - although you are not the guy for lyrics ;D ) if they decide to listen to the EP titled Alles maar alleen. If I understand well the artist is Kev. Kevin Dreves by full name. I have no idea who is he. Neither I know how his sticker came here to this little Spanish town. 🤷♀
I don't even know what he is singing about in his songs, so I am sorry if I am bringing here some crap inadequate music. Anyway I think not many users would understand the lyrics, and it's fine actually. The reason why he is coming to our little Q corner today is that the sticker that features him was just one of a few "music" stickers I found in the same street.

One of those that I liked a lot is the colourful collage that says Made in the 80s. (years are not to be discussed and asked, but somehow I found grace in this sticker). Although the artist whose music we can listen to in this post is probably from some next generation.
My guess is also that he didn't have the pleasure to use cassette tapes. Those were some years when you could buy the tape of the musician you liked at the moment, and run home with excitement to listen to it. I used to buy tons of recordable blank cassettes as I used to record my piano practice sessions and then listen to them. Correct my own errors and missed notes, and polish the parts that needed improvement. Like a teacher-student connection, in one.
There was another cassette tape sticker photo, but somehow I see it too much for this post. If anyone is interested in how that other sticker is, I can post it in the comment section, but at the moment I think I will slowly finish here adding just one more photo, with an obvious message that would anyone who reads this post confirms.

It's not always the lyrics that makes the music. Actually, I am instrumentalist, the music I play usually doesn't require text. But also, we have to admit, it's interesting to listen to some songs that we have no clue what they talk about, as in this case 😁

It seems to me like a very urban rap, but little else... "But"... 😊... Yes I can assure you that I loved reading your article... You always write in a "fresh and readable way"... Awww... I traveled back in time when I read your lines about the 80s and music on magnetic tape cassettes... I still have a lot of them saved, I used them until 2001 or 2002 if I remember correctly (I had an old rustic vehicle Toyota FJ40 whose sound system was for those cassettes and there I listened to Queen, Iron Maiden, Serrat, Silvio Rodriguez and a little bit of Bossa Nova and Pedro Infante... What a varied taste that I had!...)... Awwww.... Those times, now it seems to me that it was another life!...

I also left a huge box of music on tapes for my niece, it was not possible to take them with me when I moved. Oh, what a mixture of Iron Maiden with Bossa Nova or Pedro Infante 😆 I also had an older car, well, it was some 20 years ago when I could listen to Piano Concert no 3 by Rachmaninoff - very loudly. Then I realised it is not a good idea while you drive 😂

Yes, Dutch sounds a bit like German, there are similarities. Someone who understood commented what about the song is. It is life stuff told from the angle of a rapper 😉

It would be best for them to have a more bigger audience is to have English translation on their song since it's the Universal language almost every continent speaks and understands English.... Well, just my thoughts/opinion thought specially if it's about Life.
Music from Spotify which allows me to access with many songs that I haven't heard before especially listen with my friends, like they always recommend me some music that I used to find it weird, but now enjoy it.
As English is my second language, I also struggling with it sometimes but compare to then, I think I improve a lot especially with my reading because I read a lot of experience from my favorite authors in this platform,
You are improving, I can confirm that 😉 Reading helps a lot, you can enrich your vocabulary, learn structures, grammar, and the whole feeling for that certain language.
Each languages is different and has it's logic. The differences in them can even shape our way of thinking, I can say it from my own experience.
Well guess I am the first one that did understand the lyrics. The guy is indeed doing Urban Rap about friends, pain, Family, smoking joints(recurring item), looking at butts I like butt better than but btw I hate my usage of but, but when I can use butt there is no but about that.
All considered the beats are quite good, the lyrics not bad but certainly not refreshing and the guy does not spit the words enough to make them count.
I think the true story here is how did that sticker get there..... My guess they had a nice holiday in the area and dropped some sticker en route. I know my made has put up stickers of the City Camping Tilburg all over Europe and dev in Spain
Your guess is spot on, you are the first to understand the lyrics. Well, we don't really know if first in listening and understanding, but the first in writing down what the guy is talking about. (how nicely this "but" came here hahaha)

Talks... yes, talks about other topics are ongoing too. At that age, it is just normal for youngsters to find more understanding in friends but what we highlighted is that we were also young one day, and we (try to) understand everything. To be honest, I was not that open with my parents as my son is with me, so I stay a bit confused sometimes hahaha
That openness is key, it allows room to talk about stuff before you get your butt into real trouble

About dreaming in different languages. It all depends also about what we dream and with who. I think if you are used to talk in real life with someone in a certain language, the probability to dream on that same one while that person appears in the dream is high. I also think mainly in English when I am here around. A big plus for you is that you and your husband talk in English 🥂

I suppose I'm the last one who could understand the lyrics. 'Could' since I listened a little and then I didn't really listen. My thoughts started wandering off to other places, like how my pumpkin soup is doing on the stove. Tons of Pumpkin, quite a lot of Ginger, a bit of Onion. Cooked until glazed and slightly soft. Then mucho more than a splash of coconut milk (I use like a 5x time what the original creator of this dish uses), vegetable stock, fresh SPANISH pepper (original cook says: chilli powder.... why not fresh? So nice!). Low heat and waiting about 50 minutes, ok, 40 minutes is probably also ok. Now in that last phase, waiting... and while waiting reading and writing comments in which I got totally distracted, AGAIN! {lol} So, what about the lyrics? Soon and the original Spanish will all move to Latin America and The Netherlands added a Province to their territory. Tomorrow (well, Wednesday) we have Province elections and am voting for that party that intends to extend NL to include what now is known as Spain. Everything But Alone. Definitely that! The song is talking about having everything, though feeling alone. Not sure how much the singer felt alone. Didn't listen too well to the lyrics, remember? Sorry, I wrote that, since I forgot about it for a moment already, but you may not have forgotten {lol}.
Interestingly, the butt ... oops ... but alone could also be read as: 'Everything, not including alone!' Maybe a native English person doesn't read that, but me not having such roots, I can read it like that ;) Again, a totally different meaning.
Last few days I kinda binge watched an Irish series, 10 episodes. In that series, 'Everything but Alone' kinda applies as a red line. Coincidence? Can't be! Everything is connected, this is the proof!

I am big fan of music and always like to listen this type of cool lyrics music. When a person is very bored, listening to songs passes your time well and gives a lot of peace to the mind of a person.
I am never bored, but yes, music is with me for almost the whole day, especially at the work... it's my work actually 😁
