Adiemus - the tune stuck in my mind
This song... it can't get out of my head.
I walk through the living room and hum the tune - my husband is already thinking of methods to get revenge on me for spreading this song-infection on him too... But that's it, from last Friday words sounds like

The words indeed don't have meaning in any of the official languages people here on Hive could talk. This language is invented, by the composer of the saga of Adiemus albums, Sir Karl William Pamp Jenkins. The song that is stuck in my mind is the same named one, Adiemus, from the first album in this series, Songs of Sanctuary.
I heard it, a long time ago. However, I didn't know anything about it. Even I was not sure about the composer/performer. If I had to guess I would say something like Enya, Enigma, or music that was influenced by Vangelis...
The eye-opening event happened last Friday.
Between lessons, Pilates, grocery, lunch, playing at a wedding ceremony you saw in my last post, and more lessons I could also attend the graduation ceremony of my son and the concert they gave for that occasion (playing in the orchestra of his conservatory, for the last time in the role of the concertmaster in this setting...)
I hope you can see the names of the pieces they played. It was interesting as they combined the string orchestra with the choir and later with the brass band. My favourite of all... you already know. Adiemus.
It was my favourite to that level that despite the need to practice other things this week (for three different performances that will take place) I found the scores and played & recorded it this morning. 😁
It is quite repetitive, you can say. And it is, as it is that style of this music, new-age. There are fewer different details so you can stay focused on one rhythmical pattern or just a few chords. It sounds really cool when played by a symphonic orchestra because of the dynamic effects (piano as an instrument is a bit limited in it, at least a digital piano and if I don't add additional effects).
If you still read these lines it means that you have chosen the number two and continued with the post. I hope you don't regret it. You still have a chance to avoid the part of the "song infection"! 😂
But if you press the play button of the video, then there is a risk that you will hum the tune too for the next two days.

Hahaha, as soon as I saw the title I heard this dramatic song play in my head, which as you say, sounded like Enya, Enigma, or Vangelis (and at some point became the commercial soundtrack of an airline). Though I never knew the words were not of any human language. I just assumed it was one I didn't speak. Thanks for the trivia! Now I need to see how to get this tune out of my head... 😜

The words sound like the Latin language, right? It was my first impression at least. And then I read this interesting detail:

It does sound like Latin, doesn't it? ...until you try to translate it, all enthusiastic from learning it in school, and find out that something doesn't add up. Maybe our school Latin was not completely up to date? Or the song may be some weird dialect of vulgar Latin? I really wish someone had told me this back then. It would have saved quite a bit of frustration!

Great to see the list of pieces that were played. It must be quite a talent to make such rhythmic music that’s catchy and never gets old. The mind truly has multiple tabs open and you can make out that’s it’s always browsing through most of the tabs 😂 to have such a humming effect on us.

when a song is ringing in my head, it's like I'm addicted to listening to it, all I do is sing it every time I travel and sleep, but over time I get bored, but my solution when I'm in a situation like that, I can just sing it and listen to it until it stops
It was better today - the tune faded a bit as I had to practice many other pieces and had a very busy day. So, the solution is to work hard on other tunes,
and it stops indeed 😂

I dare to get stuck on a new tune ... and I note that the old sound of great church masses and chants of the past centuries and "Adoramus Te," an old church standard in Latin, is sitting there in that new music ... because I have been following Kurt Moll and Wout Oosterkamp around through all these Haydn and Beethoven masses recently and have so much Pachelbel in my memory past that, this music sounds new and old at the same time! I love new music with DEEP ROOTS, so, thanks for sharing!
