Vibes Web3 Music Competition - Week 27 | "O Sole mio" (cover)

(Edited)

"O sole mio" is one of the most famous songs in Italy. This melody, recognizable everywhere in the world, was composed by Eduardo di Capua (a Neapolitan conductor and composer) using a poem by Giovanni Capurro (a poet), resulting in a perfect combination that has transcended time and continues to resonate to this day.

But, strange as it may seem, the melody of this iconic Italian song was not composed in Italy! Although the poem was written in Italy (1894) by Capurro to a woman he had fallen in love with, the music was composed in 1898 by a homesick di Capua who was far from his homeland, in Ukraine. Before leaving Italy, his friend Giovanni had given him the poem, perhaps in the hope that one day Eduardo could find inspiration in those nostalgic verses. Thanks to that gesture today we can enjoy an eternal and beautiful musical pearl that continues and will continue to vibrate.

Learn the translation of this beautiful poem:

What a beautiful thing is a sunny day
The calm air after a storm
The fresh air seems like a holiday
What a beautiful thing is a sunny day
But another sun
Even more beautiful
My sun is on your face
The sun, my sun
Is on your face
Is on your face
The crystals of your window shine
A washerwoman sings and shows off
While she twists, stretches and sings
The crystals of your window shine.

Now, after several weeks away from this exciting contest, I return to share -with the forgiveness of the flutists- this song in the voice of my Alto Recorder.

Well... this is it. I hope you enjoy this interpretation. I say goodbye with love. See you in the next installment!

Peace and Good!

Mientras tuerce, estira y canta

¡Paz y Bien!
