Music On Leo – Monthly Report, February 2024
I've been a fan of the database building project Music on Leo project since its inception, but I didn't really take my own submissions very seriously before the idea of using the #playlist tag was introduced. Actually it took a bit longer than that even. You see, my preferred way of listening to music has always been to listen to complete albums, and not so much singles. So I didn't really find much motivation in just adding songs.
But then I realized I could simply combine the #playlist tag with a new tag, i.e. the #album tag, and suddenly I had opened the door for myself to add complete albums, just like I wanted. This realization came on the last day of January, and I managed to add three albums before the month ended.
February Goal: 100 albums
So on February 1st I started the month out with the goal of posting at least three albums a day, and to reach at least 100 albums posted by the end of the month. I also decided to log all albums posted in an excel sheet to keep track of them all.
But then along came polls
About 2/3 into the month, I'd posted about 65 albums when polls were suddenly re-introduced. This was of course amazing news, as it became possible to add a rating system to both songs and albums, as depicted in this image.
But the problem with polls, of course, was that it completely disrupted my workflow and the speed I was able to post albums at. So to mitigate this and help both myself and the community, I came up with a way to use ChatGPT to assist in the setup of the songs with a rating system, making it viable to keep up the pace I'd had. The entire process is explained in detail in this post:
https://inleo.io/@mightpossibly/tutorial-chatgptassisted-playlist-creation-for-musiconleo
I also realized I needed to go back and re-add most of the old songs, as polls can only be added to top-level Threads, meaning each song needs to be a top-level thread with its own poll, which is then re-threaded into the playlist. It's gonna be a job, but not too bad.
Here's an example of how a playlist need to be structured for it to be possible to rate every song in it:
https://inleo.io/threads/view/mightpossibly/re-leothreads-2uohiek6s
But then...
All the polls we'd added disappared overnight it was not possible to add new ones. In addition to that, as most of you know, the entire interface became really unstable, making it almost impossible to even use, let alone building a music database. Because of this I decided to halt all additions until polls are back. Not a huge problem of course, when something is out that's usually a good chance to turn your focus to other interesting things. Like setting up a VSC node for instance :)
Anyways, here are the;

I totally agree with you @mightpossibly, I add albums to #musiconleo and use the #albums tag as well.
It is too distracting for me to have to stop after every song and start a new one.
I have really enjoyed adding music to INLEO. I have also tried to make a habit of adding the individual songs to the album comments, as well.
It's so cool to be several people working together on something and pulling in the same direction. I'm really thankful to have the opportunity to participate in something like that. For every little piece added by someone, it enriches the whole.
Absolutely, @mightpossibly
You certainly bring a lot to the table.

Very good friend to present this report.
Wow! You made a lot of playlists in February and if it weren't for this unstable week, you could have surpassed 100 albums.
I confess that for me bringing these songs to the database is hard work, but a lot of fun. ..
I hope that the polls can return so that we can continue to add another form of interaction for the community.
You gave me an idea for me to create an article about music. I hope it works out here and see you later!
See you in the Party room hahaha...
Hard work indeed, but worth it and certainly fun :) Looking forward to your article! In the party room, in the party room 🎉
