HiveOpenmic week #166: "You say" by Lauren Diagle, Cover by @mhizerbee

Hello everyone in the HiveOpenmic community. Welcome to week 166 with the theme "Never give up". It's such a wonderful theme and on that premise, I'll be doing a cover of the song "You say" by "Lauren Diagle".

When we talk about Never giving up, it means staying strong, and pushing hard despite what we face and irrespective of the challenges we encounter in life. Life is not a bed of roses as they say and it won't always be juicy. We face problems, have issues, challenges and difficulties but in all we should never give up.

There is a voice that always speaks negative things just like the other one which speaks positive things. It is now left for you and I to choose which of them we are to listen to. There's always this voice that belittles someone, makes you feel worthless and not enough and if you listen to it and absorb whatever it says, there's every tendency that you may likely become those things and on the other hand, there's also a voice which speaks positive things and it may not be as many times as the other voice. Listening to it will do you good.

While listening to this song, I tried to understand what Lauren Diagle went through or was going through to have made her sing this song and I think it came from a place of pain, sadness and unhappiness. The first stanza of the song says I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough. Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up That's where the negative voice came in, it might be the voice of Satan or sapa 🤣 or whatever.

When you feel unloved, remember that God loves you
When you are weak, remember God is the source of your strength
When you feel like you don't belong, you feel worthless and inferior remember you are God's own. Believe what he says about you and don't forget what Jeremiah 29 vs 11says.

The only thing that should matter to you is what God says and thinks about you. In the eyes of God, you are worthy and your identity is there. It's okay to breakdown but when you do, lay everything at God's feet. Don't be afraid to fail, if you fail, keep trying. God has every failure and victory. He knows what's best for you and giving up is the last thing that should come across your mind.

Never give up. Believe what God says. It's okay to cry but when you do, clean your tears, brace up and keep moving.
