Recording my next Abum -- Registrando il prossimo Album

Finally, I'm free. I could hardly believe that the "Music Biz" could be such a murky place. I was naive, truly believing in what they were "selling" me. As a result, my best songs were "frozen" for three long years.

But now, I'm back!

Playing two guitars simultaneously is a matter of sound, not just a kind of show. The two guitars are split into two separate channels. The "complication" in reproducing this sound LIVE is that the two guitars are on two microphones in the same room, and each microphone can capture the sound of the other guitar, creating an awful "melting pot" of sound.

In fact, the operation, which we can refer to as "a surgical operation," consists of using "directional microphones" and reducing the "back-sound" of the other guitar from the mixer. Moreover, the voice is captured by a microphone placed above everything to capture the entire sound as it is. At that point, I guess that from the mixer you reduce the reverb, reduce the guitar tones in the background, and underline the voice with a "directional compressor." But these are technical details which I really don't understand. I don't even read music, I don't know music theory, I just like the sound and the stereo effect produced by the "tenor" guitar which goes on the left and the "bass guitar" which goes on the right. Now, with the voice playing at the center, imagine the effect you can get during a concert.

I'm not the only one experimenting with sound on two separate guitars played simultaneously. Here's a little compilation of my favorite artists, the ones who inspire me:

The first artist I discovered was Luca Stricagnoli, an Italian-Canadian musician, distributed by "CandyRat Records." I've added the channel in case you'd like to discover the different incredible guitarists from their roster.

Sweet Child Of Mine Luca Stricagnoli

Thriller Luca Strcagnoli

I like him a lot. I imagine how much time he spent creating the entire song on two guitars, how many times he practiced in his room just to get the perfect sound... He's a genius.

But there's another guy who I really think is beyond any imagination. He plays 2/3 guitars, at the same time. He's just amazing.

Stairway to Heaven Stanley Jordan

But it's not over, here's a performance with three guitars at the same time:

Clint Eastwood (GORILLAZ) on Triple Neck Guitar

In conclusion:

Here Preston Reed.

He plays his guitar in a very unique way... it's just a matter of choice how to play a guitar... once you release your "burden" everything is possible.

There's always a different way to live.
