I know it's been weeks since my last song presentation in this great community but I'm happy I'm here with one more. It's still a new week and I'm very expectant of this week being a great one as well for myself and you reading this. I'll be presenting a totally different song today, a song that didn't require my usual voice but I love the challenge.

The first time I came across this song, I couldn't help but relate so much with it after the many stories I've heard about people taking their own lives, people struggling so much within themselves with no one close to help them out of it. I'm hardly in such situations but I've had a brief experience of having no one remember I'm somewhere and finding it difficult to get past a stage in my life.

Depression!!!

That is what it gets to when people try to take care of everything themselves but end up getting overwhelmed by the difficulties and no one around to check on them and help them overcome.

Libianca must have experienced or witnessed the extent people have gone to when they are depressed, she tried to portray it in this song and I felt it like an obligation to sing this cover rather than just singing it as a presentation for this week. I feel I'm reminding myself and everyone who would read through the lyrics as they listen to go check on someone especially those who have been a long time they contacted.

Indeed, people don't know you until you tell them what you are feeling and that can't be done without those people asking you the simple question "How are you?" although many people don't say exactly what they are feeling when asked this question... Too bad!

"People (Did You Check On Me)" is sang by Libianca, a Cameroonian and afrobeats singer. This song isn't her first but it is the most popular from all her songs. She won a fan when I first listened to her voice on this song, so natural and deep... I wish I have that deep voice as well 🥲 but I tried to in this cover.

I do hope you enjoy the song and please let me know what you think about the song in the comment section, I'll be looking forward to it.

Song lyrics

Oh-oh-oh-oh
Mhmm, mhmm
From Bamenda, it's Libianca
Oh-oh

I've been drinking more alcohol for the past five days
Did you check on me?
Now, did you look for me?
I walked in the room, eyes are red and I don't smoke banga
Did you check on me? (Did you check on me?)
Now, did you notice me?

Nobody wey know the paranoia oh
'Cause I put a smile on my face, a façade you can never face (Ooh)
And if you don't know me well, well, oh
You won't see how buried I am inside my grave
Inside my grave

'Cause you see people, people, people, people don't really know you
They don't really know you
'Cause you see people, people, people
They don't really know you
They don't really know

This song is so relatable, people don't you, they don't really care.

But we keep going.

Wao! U don't do this often, but any time you do, you show great effort and deliver sound stuffs.

Actually, a lot of people face great difficulties in their lives and sometimes these are aggravated by the lack of care they experience. I am guilty of this too. Sometimes I just take a break from the people I care about and it is not really good. But you have awakened my spirit today with this post. Thank u for sharing dear. Nice work from u to me, lols

You rock!!!

Aaww...you're out here again @merit.ahama
Your interpretations matched well.

Many people go through a lot of misfortunes to the point of thinking nothing more or less than taking their own very precious lives.

Depression becomes incessant in our present society due to neglegences of some of us on others

We mustn't have gold or money to give to people, a little kindness of just checking in the other helps rekindle their strength and evil thoughts of nasty actions

We can't tell. It maybe at the point of almost standing up to go commit evil that we knocked at the door and go in..spend time, talk with them; and unknown to us we have healed them secretly

Girl, thanks for sending this song here and I must say #BRAVO 🤝✌🤝🤝🤝

You said a lot and I agree with you about not needing to have so much before you show some kindness.

Thanks so much for listening and for leaving a comment behind 🙂
