Dad Had A Camera & A Local Radio Player

This is going to be one happy but emotional post to write as it reflects a memory of myself and how beautiful life has been for me. Being able to reflect back to the past with smiles is possible with pictures and happenings that causes one to recall.

We may not had been the best family then, but my family was happy in our own little way... With dad's camera and his radio player.

Dad never learned how to use the camera from any professional setting but he knew well enough the advantage of having your own camera and he made good use of it until the camera got tired of keeping memories with him.

Who'd have thought that those pictures he took would be our only way to see how my mum was being in our family before she left? No, I'm not in tears or feeling hurt right now but I really wish we had more than those pictures to see mum with us. Now, it is just my siblings and dad but we are glad to look back at some old pictures to say "We are still grateful".

Dad's old and damaged camera

I'm still surprised to see this camera in our house even after moving from our old home to new places. Dad seem to have grown an attraction to the camera even though it no longer works and the parts aren't available anymore to repair this old one. Dad will always say "This camera is older than you two" to my siblings, I was still very little when he bought the camera.

It's funny how something so little and damaged is an elder to my siblings and like an age mate with me 😅 more than that, the pictures this camera has taken are what made our childhood memorable till date.

Some old photo from family's photo album

These are only a few from the countless photos dad took with his camera and one thing stood out for us anytime dad takes pictures. He is always playing his radio, he is huge fan of music. One song that resonates so well with me when I look at these pictures is "Story of my life" by One Direction band.

This song was released in the year 2013 and it's still as refreshing true as it had been since it was released. Dad loved music so much that his kids loved music and even how to sing well enough to bless dad with it. He would always say he is happy we could sing so well, to our music, dad's the biggest fan.

The radio player my dad loved so much hot damaged beyond repair too but I wonder why dad couldn't keep it for as long as the camera had been, would have really love to share a pic of it as it had a unique build hehe.

These particular pictures were all taken personally by my dad on different occasions. They are all pictures of myself during my childhood, dad was the one who took me to school when I had just started schooling and as his first child, I had a lot of his love which I could tell from these pictures.

Until dad's camera got bad, we enjoyed the connection of keeping memory and listening to music that didn't just play at random but focus on giving us smiles and positivity to keep pushing as a family. Things could go wrong somehow, something may not go our way and so I blame no one that mum isn't with us like it was before.

I'll like to end this post with another song I recently listened to, I checked for the video and I could relate so well with as well when I think back to my dad keeping memories with his old camera. Photograph by Ed Sheeran is one song I've come to love for it's deep meaning and relation to my old photos story.

The equipments to my beautiful memories may not be here anymore but I love that I could think back and smile when I see my dad's old camera.

This post was inspired by the pinned post in the community, thanks to Mipiano.

You know there are some item that might look old but it worth is priceless, such is the case of this two items especially the camera.

It is amazing to be able to have a photograph that will remind you of people that are no longer around or childhood memories you are unable to experience again. One thing I realise is that as we grow older we tend to forget details of our past but thanks to this amazing pictures your dad has managed to retain those memories.

It might not seem like much but it is a heritage that should be inherited by a child.

"This camera is older than you two"

My dad does this too, to almost everything in the house. You know this pen is older than you, this table is older than you he would say 😀

Memories are what keep us going forward.
