Jesse Welles : My new favorite songwriter

(Edited)

Just today, as I was replying to some comments on my blog, this man and his guitar was suggested to me by the deity, the algorithm. It's a rare event when I'm grateful for the algo guessing my taste.

It looks like I'm a little late to the party. He's been putting out fire for years, it seems, and somehow flew under my radar.

As someone with a soft spot for few chords and the truth, Jesse has to be at the level of Bob Dylan in his younger years, and I don't think I'm exaggerating.

This song broke me...

If you are going to listen, you have to listen. Put on headphones and truly listen. There is no flare, no beautiful voice, no flash, none of the adornment "modern music" requires. This is as raw and as powerful as it gets.

I've played this song and others so many times today, I'm alone responsible for his count ticker moving up so much today.

Do yourself a favor...

Don't go away without listening to this one:

As the top commenter said: It feels like a song that has existed for a hundred years.

I'm touched....

the algorithm gods have decided today's the day we grace Meno with our presence. It actually got it right for once. Happens so rarely.

I have had the unmistakable feeling for some time that fair distribution doesn't really work in our society. Now I am finally wiser. I now know that I am simply too stupid and lazy to extract from life what can be described as worth living.
It goes without saying that war is not a murderer. When properly propagandised, advertised and staged, it only leaves behind heroes and martyrs. There are many silent heroes here in the Balkans.
The comparison with Dylan is absolutely justified!

There are some people, funnily enough, who don't get his sarcasm, and think he's on their side.

Benny Jhonson made a video about how Welles is antiwoke. The joke went over his head by a mile and a half.

If this is your cup of tea, check out his channel. The walmart song is pure genius!
