HIVE POWER (HP) = HIVE that has been staked.
So, you would buy HIVE and stake it ("PowerUp") to get HP.
Also, when your posts pay-out, the rewards can be PoweredUp into HP without having to buy anything. Rewards are usually paid-out half in HP and half in HBD, but you can choose (100% Power Up) to get them all in HP if you wish; this is a good option for growing one's account.
So how much money do I really need to invest before I can start making money because in my line of business I'd tell you 7 million cfa
Hive wasn't created as a "passive income" stream, where you invest money and more money comes back to you without doing any work. On Hive, we earn money by actually doing things:
• write good blogs that people want to upvote as a show of support
• upvote other people's posts and receive "Curation Rewards" for doing so
• arbitrage tokens on Hive-Engine (Layer2)
• play one of the many games on Hive where you can earn rewards to reinvest
The only ways to earn passive income (without doing anything) on Hive is:
• earn/buy HBD (Hive-Backed Dollars) and transfer them to Savings where they will earn interest (currently 15% APR)
• hold HP and earn interest (currently 3% APR)
• purchase some tokens on Hive-Engine that pay small dividends to holders

You can't buy HP, but you can buy HIVE and turn it into HP by 'staking' it in a PowerUp operation, yes. And it will be there forever until you decide to withdraw it. Withdrawing it takes 13 weeks, so if you had 1300 HP, your withdrawal would be 100 HP for 13 weeks to get it all back.
Similarly, any HBD you buy and put into Savings would also be there forever until you decide to withdraw it. Withdrawals from Savings take 3 days, for any amount you specify. Then it becomes liquid again.
So this will be there forever?
NO! That is a "delegation" (a temporary loan of HP), not forever!

oooooooooh, you are buying a delegation. A 'delegation' is a loan of HP. If they say the delegation is for "30 days," then yes, it will disappear after 30 days. That makes a big difference over buying your own HIVE and staking it into HP.

If you will use the 30-day delegation ("loan") of HP you received from Ecency, you can earn HP from it that will last forever! Find some good posts on Hive and start upvoting & commenting on them!
