My R&B selection 🎤 [Eng/Esp]
Hello again, everyone in this community. On a previous occasion, I talked to you about some rock songs that make me feel very nostalgic. But this time, I want to change direction a little and talk to you about another genre that also has something very special: R&B (Rhythm and Blues).
This style, born in the heart of African-American culture, has evolved greatly over the years. In its early days, it was more closely linked to blues and soul, but over time it embraced influences from pop, funk, and hip-hop, becoming a modern, smooth sound full of emotion. It's the kind of music that envelops, relaxes, and conveys feeling all at the same time.
Hola nuevamente, personitas de esta comunidad. En una ocasión anterior les hablé sobre algunas canciones del género rock que me traen mucha nostalgia. Pero esta vez quiero cambiar un poco el rumbo y hablarles de otro género que también tiene algo muy especial: el R&B (Rhythm and Blues).
Este estilo, nacido en el corazón de la cultura afroamericana, ha evolucionado muchísimo con los años. En sus inicios estaba más ligado al blues y al soul, pero con el paso del tiempo fue abrazando influencias del pop, el funk y el hip-hop, hasta convertirse en un sonido moderno, suave y lleno de emoción. Es ese tipo de música que logra envolver, relajar y transmitir sentimiento al mismo tiempo.
On this occasion, I would like to share some songs that, in my opinion, are essential for delving into this world so full of rhythm and soul. It is also a great way to hear how it has evolved over time.
En esta oportunidad quiero compartir algunas canciones que, en mi opinión, son esenciales para adentrarse en este mundo tan lleno de ritmo y alma. Además para escuchar su evolución con el tiempo.
Respect – Aretha Franklin (1967)
For me, this song is one of the most powerful anthems of the genre. I first heard it in a movie I watched as a child, and it has been etched in my memory ever since. Aretha manages to convey strength, dignity, and incredible energy that makes you want to sing the song at the top of your lungs.
