Unique concert
Hello everyone! Very good idea to create this space to share those memories that marked us in one way or another. I found out about this community thanks to a post by @mipiano and here I am.
On the night of March 25 and early morning of March 26, 2016 took place in Cuba, the Rolling Stones concert.
Perhaps for many it is just a concert. Although I don't think so...it's the Rolling Stones 😜. But for us Cubans, that event had an enormous transcendence.
To give you a brief summary. During some years of the last century several fashionable musical groups were banned in our island.
The youth of that time lived by secretly listening to vinyl records and cassettes of those singers. The possibility of any of those groups or soloists giving a concert in Cuba was a utopia.
But life moves on and minds evolve. So here we were, witnessing the miracle.
The concert was talked about for months. I think people still didn't believe it was really going to happen.
For several days they were setting up big audio equipment, lights and many huge screens. They were expecting a huge turnout. I don't know how many days before they started camping in the areas of the Ciudad Deportiva (place where it was going to be held). They were just waiting to be near the stage to see their idols. People of many ages, but especially those young people who dreamed so much about it.
Finally the day arrived. Of course I went, with my husband, my brother, my brother-in-law and their wives. We had to walk about 4 km, the traffic was blocked. Thousands of people were heading in caravan to the concert area.
It was a sublime night. In my mind was hammering the idea that we were living a unique moment.
I thought on several occasions how those people who were near the stage, who had been waiting for days...years, must have felt.
I could only conclude that they were feeling young again and fulfilling their dreams.
It is speculated that close to 500,000 souls were there that night. I was a long way from the stage, though. I'm glad I was one of them.
Once again life proved to us that if you dream it .... it is possible.

Hi Mary!. It's a pleasure to meet you through this funny story. Welcome to #TbtThursdays! on Hive. You can also post in Spanish whenever you like, although it's always important to share content in English 😉 Although the situation in my country is not exactly like Cuba's, we did have a difficult season recently regarding concerts of international stature like this one, so I understand the feeling of joy that such an important artist is performing in your country for the first time in a long time.
I see that you were retired from the stage, but that didn't prevent you from enjoying the full experience that you narrate here. You had the privilege of being there very well accompanied by your people that made the night more special. I would love to see the Rolling Stones, they are a living legend and have been going strong since the 60's, I think that's incredible, and I loved the story that they listened to their vinyl records on the sly, when you're a fan there's no stopping you. I loved your post, thank you very much again for being here, you're welcome every time you have a memory to reminisce on Thursdays 🙏
Yes really good this experience, osea is not any group are the Rolling Stones, a total madness. delighted with what this companion tells us.
Saludos.
Oh wow, a Rolling Stones concert?
😲🥁👏👏👏
That's huge! So cool you could attend it. The 4 km of walking because of traffic block is normal for concerts of this magnitude. 😅
The effect you used for the photos is cool 😋
Yeeees y estuvimos ahí!!!
It was very good, they played their greatest hits and it lasted a little over 2 hours. We were far away from the stage but we could see it on the screens.
Actually we walked very little, there were people who walked more than 10 km.
Thanks, Hive didn't deserve such bad photos. 🤭
Hahaha, viva la creatividad 😋
Yupiii 😜🤣

So I put 100,000 people in a jar and made a smoothie... 🤣 I said it was about 400,000. hahahahaha... Yes, it was sublime. And Havana was proud to have them here. All of Cuba, I can say.
People were unusually happy. It was wonderful to witness it.
Congratulations for bringing back this pleasant memory. This marked us very much, you are right.
Actually, it is not known for sure how many people were there. It is speculated that there were about 500,000, maybe less, maybe more. Somewhere I read figures close to a million. What is certain is that we were many!!!! And it was sublime.
😂 And it is also true that you had a sublime fun as well.
