Lentävä Kalakukko By Saimaa

The name of the song is the name of a 1950's crime comedy film, Lentävä Kalakukko (Esa Flies to Kuopio) and the theme of the film.

Kalakukko in turn, is a traditional dish from the region of Savonia.

Kala means fish. Kukko means cock or rooster. I have no clue as to why the dish is named that way except for the fish part.

The titles of the song and the film literally read flying fish cock, which is why you really can't translate them without getting a bit creative without utterly confusing the reader.

I really like the Saimaa version of the song. Everything about it reflects my attitude to life.
