KAJ's Cover Of Nessun Dorma (Nissan Bromsa)

KAJ is a Finland Swedish band from the partially Swedish speaking region of Ostrobothnia in Finland that will represent Sweden in the Eurovision song contest in May this year.

The lyrics are about a Nissan braking but failing to stop and skidding into a ditch. The driver calls his brother to ask him to pull the Nissan up from the ditch with his Renault. He's finds himself having to use a winch. But the winch breaks down and the Nissan stays in the ditch.

One thing that may helped with the arrangement that this is not sung in Standard Swedish but in the singer's own Vörå (a rural municipality a little to the east of the provincial capital of Vasa/Vaasa) dialect.

Some people on Reddit claimed that the vocalist had had no vocal training and was self-taught. But I find that a little hard to believe. According to the vocal coach, he's a pro-level opera singer.

I don't know anything about proper singing technique. But I found the vocal coache's breakdown of this performance interesting as it gives a glimpse of what is required to sing this kind of a song correctly.
