The Ophanim - New original electronic music track
Today I wanted to make a retrospective to the first style of music I did when I started my journey aproeaching music production more seriously, I started doing techno/darkwave tracks.
I remember back in october in 2023 when I made my first tracks using the good old gabba kicks and piano loops, it was fun, but I wanted to explore more, and then I switched to make darkwave but mixed with techno, it was more experimental stuff like a fusion, well that era inspired me to produce this track called "the Ophanim" the name is inspired by a type of angels also known as the Thrones.
Specs
For this track I used a main melody as an intro with the sound called "TIBETRON" that a bell that sound really clean and also dreamy, this are the notes:
As usual I used the C Scale because the genre is like dark and deep in my opinion the best for this type of beat.
For the bass I used my favorite VST plugin called Harmor, I remember I used to make tracks with this one all the time, it was mandatory almost, wow it feels like forever since I used it.
Mainly I used thedefault bass sound but its actually the first time I use this preset actually, I like that it has a resonance/delay to it perfect for electronic music.
Then I put the 4/4 drums typical for this type of tracks, this is what we call a four to the floor in music production and then I used the sound choir on the sytrus plugin.
I played using the keyboard as a midi controller, like I said in previous posts, this way is better because it sound more organic.
This is the pattern I used for this track:
Finally in the second part of the track I used the effects with Gross beat called TRANCE, that goes perfect with the time signature of 4/4
and I also used some variations on the pattern and finally I made the outro reducing the volume until it disappeared.
Thats pretty much how I did it so here is TRACK on my YT Channel:
Making this techno electronic type beat made me realize how much I miss to make these, it feel nostalgic at some point, I feel like coming home almost!
It funny how at the end of this year 2024 Im making these style, its like going full circle.

For the artwork I used a photograph I took with shapes and applied the kaleidoscope effect. Then I put the image into the photomosh site to apply more effects and then I choose a dark one because it fits the deep sound of the notes.
The concept is the Ophanim a type of angels that kinda look like a kaleidoscope because they look like wheels between wheels and eyes and I know that they are appearing on the sky all over the world in the form of UAP or UFO, and that inspired me alot because as some of you know I love angels, I actually did a deep dive into all types of angels in a podcast a few months ago on my blog.
Its a topic that Im really passionate about because of spirituality and how that influence my music and my art in general directly, so this news are a game changer for me because its making me reflect on the things that we feel and see beyond our senses.
As always this is the track you can use for free in your videos, remixes or whatever you want:

this is cool. I would have guessed it was considered “industrial techno” so thanks for introducing me (uh reintroducing me cause I’ve heard it before somewhere) to the term dark wave
Woahhh the glitchy part is nice!!!
What software is this?
I’m about to get back into recording too
So dark wave is genre of music that encapsulates a vast types of styles. It's originated by the early new wave /post punk aesthetics, and has evolved a lot since then.
This genre has also infiltrated into the techno/cyber/industrial/goth scenes since it's early days but now it's hard to tell because it's all a mixture of influences and sounds taken by every possible genre in existence, so the purist days are long gone now, the label darkwave nowadays is turning more and more into a feeling more thab to describe a technical sound. So it's all relative at this point.
The software I use is Fl Studio, it's the most popular one between producers with Ableton. Both are great. I highly recommend it!
Thanks for the explanation. I’ll try to learn more, I’m sure I’ve already heard something in this genre, either more original or later versions.
Do you know anything I can use on mobile that’s similar to a DAW. I use ableton on pc but it’d be cool to be able to record when I’m out too.
I would recommend you 3 apps, one of them is Fl Studio Mobile, this is an amazing app that has ton of features, basically a mini DAW. The other one is Band Lab, it's like a mini Ableton and the other is Caustic 3, an underrated one, but this is retro in all senses.
