Train and REO Speedwagon - My Actifit Report Card: July 21 2024

Hey Actifitters,

Yesterday was a pretty busy day. It started as usual though, spending some time with Kaia and Le Chat in the yard and behind the front yard.

We also went to the forest with Kaia. Like I said many times, we very rarely skip our trip to the forest.

We didn't walk all the trails because we didn't have enough time.

But once again, that was probably a good thing for Kaia. Even if she seemed perfectly fine, leading the way on the trails, the vet recommended to not overdo it for the next few days, especially while she's under medication.

But the main event of the day was our first outdoor concert of the season, REO Speedwagon and Train. That was a bit of a surprising combo, a big classic rock name from the 70s and 80s opening for a pop rock band somewhat famous in the 90s and early 00s... My favorite music genre is for sure metal, but I'm open to seeing almost anything kinda rock live, so why not?
It was a sold out show, so getting there took some time, and we missed the cover band opening for both. Not a big deal. At least, we didn't have to wait long for REO Speedwagon to start their set.

We really didn't know much about them, but we of course recognized many of their very famous songs, like 'Can't fight this feeling', 'Roll with the changes', and of course 'Keep on Loving you'

These guys are all 70 and over, but they were rocking it out! The singer was especially energetic and could have played for ever it seems!

They played a little over an hour including one short encore. Then came Train. I also don't know much about Train, except that my first roommate when I arrived in the US many years ago used to listen to them. Well, I also remembered the very peculiar voice of the singer, you can't mistake it.

The drums are usually what I prefer in a band. Our seats were on the side, and the drummer was mostly hidden from us. But he for sure had some fun!

It was very cool to see the REO Speedwagon join them for a mash up of 'Joker' from Steve Miller Band.

The 13 year old singer's son also joined them for a Led Zeppelin cover. Usually, I think kids on stage are mostly gimmicks but he did okay I guess.

They also played a little over an hour, with again plenty of songs where we thought 'oh that was them...'.

And they of course closed their set with 'Drops of Jupiter' that even we knew!

Well, that was a pretty good day to finish the week end. A soft (meaning not metal) but good concert to start the outdoor season, hopefully many more to follow.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.

OOhh concert! So nice! I'm familiar with these bands too. I bet it was a fun concert.
Good to know Kaia's taking it easy with the walks. Hope she's better soon. Love that LeChat photo. Her white paws -- looks like she's wearing white shoes. LOL! Have a fantastic week!

Thanks!
yep, it was a fun concert! And our last one was quite some time ago, or at last it felt like a while, so we missed it. Now we have a few already planned for August and September, let's see if I can add several more...
I think Kaia is already better, but she stopped doing a few things like going up the bedroom stairs because she remembers it was painful I guess. Let's see how it goes in the next few days.
