Hit me hard and soft («Golpéame duro y suave») es el nuevo álbum de estudio de Billie Eilish el cual fue publicado hace bastante poco. Al ser una de mis artistas favoritas por supuesto quería compartir mi opinión sobre este nuevo proyecto musical 🩵
Hit me hard and soft is the new studio album by Billie Eilish which was released quite recently. Being one of my favorite artists, of course I wanted to share my opinion about this new musical project 🩵
New sounds | Nuevos sonidos
En este nuevo álbum Billie mantiene esa característica voz suave, casi como un susurro, que es capaz de transmitir calma a cualquiera. Esto para mí es el punto clave de su música puesto que considero que es su marca, lo que la distingue de las demás. Aunque en algunas de estas nuevas canciones su registro cambia un poco, como en el caso de L'amour de ma vie donde canta con una voz más fuerte, variando también la tonalidad. En su caso, creo que es bastante acertado variar en este sentido porque mantener siempre el mismo tono de voz después de mucho tiempo puede resultar aburrido.
In this new album Billie maintains that characteristic soft voice, almost like a whisper, which is capable of transmitting calm to anyone. This for me is the key point of her music since I consider it to be her trademark, what distinguishes her from the others. Although in some of these new songs her register changes a little, as in the case of L'amour de ma vie where she sings with a stronger voice, also varying the tonality. In her case, I think it is quite wise to vary in this sense because always keeping the same tone of voice after a long time can be boring.
Hablando de variaciones, en cuanto a producción también incluyeron sonidos un tanto más experimentales, mezclando un poco más de elementos alternativos son el R&B contemporáneo y pop, lo cual hace estas canciones mucho más dinámicas. También incluyen dos partes o estructuras en la misma canción, lo cual hace interesante escucharlas puesto que no esperas un cambio repentino de melodía. En este sentido, es un álbum más experimental aunque no pierde la esencia de la artista, es decir, es diferente pero al escucharlo sabes que sigue siendo algo hecho por Billie.
Speaking of variations, in terms of production they also included somewhat more experimental sounds, mixing a little more alternative elements such as contemporary R&B and pop, which makes these songs much more dynamic. They also include two parts or structures in the same song, which makes it interesting to listen to them since you don't expect a sudden change of melody. In this sense, it is a more experimental album although it does not lose the essence of the artist, that is, it is different but when listening to it you know that it is still something made by Billie.
Uno de los aspectos de los proyectos de Billie es que la parte estética está increíblemente cuidada. Le ponen corazón a los vídeos musicales, lyric videos (videos de letras) y la estética general de la presentación del álbum. Plantean un concepto, en este caso creo que es madurez emocional, tristeza y cambios, para luego complementarlo con visuales como el color azul profundo, la foto de Billie ahogándose y las historias en los videos. Todo lo estético tiene una razón de ser por lo que queda perfectamente hecho.
One of the aspects of Billie's projects is that the aesthetic part is incredibly careful. They put heart into the music videos, lyric videos, and the overall aesthetic of the album presentation. They propose a concept, in this case I think it is emotional maturity, sadness and changes, and then complement it with visuals such as the deep blue color, the picture of Billie drowning and the stories in the videos. Everything aesthetic has a reason for being so it is perfectly done.
En cuanto a las letras, son en general bastante melancólicas pero esto para mí es genial porque me encanta la música triste 😅, aunque hay canciones animadas también pero no son de mis favoritas en este álbum, como el caso de Lunch («almuerzo») que no me gustó.
De hecho, mis canciones favoritas fueron de las más tristes: Wildflower («flor salvaje») y Blue («azul»). En el caso de la primera la letra es bastante autoreflexiva y personal, donde Billie es vulnerable, tanto que se nota hasta en la voz. Es una canción que despierta sentimientos en cualquier persona.
In fact, my favorite songs were some of the saddest: Wildflower and Blue. In the case of the first, the lyrics are quite self-reflective and personal, where Billie is vulnerable, so much so that it even shows in her voice. It is a song that awakens feelings in anyone.
Lo único que puedo llegar a criticar es que para mi gusto las canciones suenan muy bajitas en volumen, la producción suena demasiado sutil, al punto de que si coloco mis audífonos a full volúmen sigo escuchando los ruidos del exterior. Me habría gustado que tuviera un poco más de volúmen pero esto considero que es una preferencia personal.
Tampoco me gustó el nombre del álbum porque me parece un tanto tonto y sin sentido, pero de nuevo, es una opinión personal.
The only thing I can criticize is that for my taste the songs sound very low in volume, the production sounds too subtle, to the point that if I put my headphones at full volume I still hear outside noises. I would have liked it to have a little more volume but I consider this to be a personal preference.
I also didn't like the name of the album because it seems kind of silly and meaningless to me, but again, that's a personal opinion.
En general me parece un álbum bastante bueno, la mayoría de canciones se pueden disfrutar y muchas son excelentes. Transmiten a través de la música justamente lo que indican las letras y viceversa, siendo una composición general bastante sólida.

Overall I think it's a pretty good album, most of the songs are enjoyable and many are excellent. They transmit through music exactly what the lyrics indicate and vice versa, being a fairly solid overall composition.
