Donald Glover es mayormente conocido por su trabajo en comedia tipo Stand Up y la actuación, en los cuales empezó desde joven y donde pudo demostrar el gran talento que tenía para ambas cosas. Pero el sistema lo oculta fácilmente. Este mensaje estaba también perfectamente representado en el vídeo, por lo que de allí viene su fama. Fue un trabajo espléndidamente ejecutado.
Donald Glover is mostly known for his work in Stand Up comedy and acting, in which he began at a young age and where he was able to demonstrate the great talent he had for both. However, music was another type of art in which he was also interested, so he began to work on his project as Childish Gambino, a name that by the way came up in an online rapper name generator (yes, in a web generator of random names).
The project was doing relatively well with moderately recognized hits in the United States until in 2018 with the release of the video clip for the song This is America it reaches international fame after viralization on the social media. A trap, hip hop and Afrobeat song with unexpected arrangements as well as a composition that transmits a direct and clear message: the American dream is not all rosy, and the society in which he lives is completely rotten. But the system hides it easily. This message was also perfectly represented in the video, so that's where his fame comes from. It was a splendidly executed job.
Esta fue la primera canción que escuché de él y me gustó completamente, por lo que quise escuchar más de su trabajo. El hip-hop/trap es uno de los géneros que menos suelo escuchar, pero como esa primera canción estaba tan bien hecha pues esperaba que el resto también. Y sí, son increíbles, pero mi sorpresa fue el darme cuenta que era el género que menos trabajaba el artista. Su música está más entre el R&B, soul y pop por lo que fue una gran y grata sorpresa escuchar esto.
El concepto es bastante alternativo considerando lo que está de moda actualmente, ya que la música de Gambino es una mezcla de todos esos géneros. Por supuesto tiene canciones que encajan en lo mainstream, pero también tiene joyas como Redbone que no son tan conocidas pero que cuando las escuchas quedas completamente maravillado con todo lo que logran transmitir
This was the first song I heard from him and I completely liked it, so I wanted to hear more of his work. Hip-hop/trap is one of the genres that I listen to the least, but since that first song was so well done, I expected the rest to be as well. And yes, they are incredible, but my surprise was realizing that it was the genre that the artist worked the least on. His music is more between R&B, soul and pop so it was a great and pleasant surprise to hear this.
The concept is quite alternative considering what is currently on the radio, since Gambino's music is a mix of all those genres. Of course he has songs that fit into the mainstream, but he also has gems like Redbone that are not so well known but when you listen to them you're left completely amazed by everything they manage to convey
Es un artista que tiene un estilo muy propio sin miedo a experimentar, cosa que ya se hacía evidente con los diferentes rumbos que ha tomado en su carrera. Yo encuentro en su música sentimientos profundos que logra transmitir ni solo con su voz sino con la composición y producción general. Es música que incluso en las canciones que parecen más simples, hay una gran planificación detrás para crear arte del bueno

Gambino no saca música con demasiada frecuencia puesto que mantiene su carrera como actor, cosa en la cual también es buenísimo. Pero a mí en particular me gusta muchísimo más lo que hace como músico. Me parece interesante desde los conceptos, la ejecución e incluso los shows en vivo. Todo es consistente con aquello que desea transmitir y no teme a variar de género con tal de dejar el mensaje claro. Ese es Childish Gambino, un artista que siempre destaca.
Gambino doesn't release music too often since he maintains his career as an actor, which he is also very good at. But I in particular like what he does as a musician much more. I find it interesting from the concepts, the execution and even the live performances. Everything is consistent with what he wants to convey and he's not afraid to vary genres in order to make the message clear. That's Childish Gambino, an artist who always stands out.
Si tuviera que describir a Donald Glover con una única palabra es multifacético. Es capaz de diversificarse en distintos tipos de are y hacerlo de maravilla, logrando transmitir mucho más que otros artistas que se dedican a sólo una cosa.
Así que si buscas algo nuevo para escuchar con un estilo diferente, Childish Gambino es una excelente opción.
If I had to describe Donald Glover with a single word, that will be multifaceted. He is able to diversify into different types of art and do it wonderfully, managing to convey much more than other artists who focus into just one thing.

Cuando lei que cantaba mas R&B, soul y pop, me convenciste jaja suele suceder que un actor/actriz tiene muchisimo potencial para la musica, pero se enfoca mas en la actuacion y cuando lanza una cancion es todo un boom (me paso con Zendaya) 😍

Síiii, Gambino es más de esos géneros aunque tiene varios temas de hiphop/rap. En realidad él es una mezcla de muchas cosas jajajaja
