LAW OF MUSIC/INSTRUMENTATION CREATIVITY

Being unique is what every musician wish to be, but how to be unique is where the problem lies. It is one thing wanting to be unique and it is another thing to work towards being unique.

Once upon a time a drummer came up with what is called rock drumming, another drummer came up and saw that this thing can be made cool, he then came up with what is called jazz drumming.

There after another drummer came up also and saw that this same thing everyone are playing can be made superB then he came up with what is called funk drumming.

Once upon a time, everyone were busy eating just rice but one day someone discovered that if he add beans to this rice, the combination will be good, then he tried the rice and beans combination and he saw that it was delicious and everyone in the world today started eating it.

If we are talking about talent we should be talking about creativity also because they both work hand in hand.

Creativity cannot be further emphasize or over emphasize. Creativity is something nobody can teach you or will teach you, creativity is self learnt. You just have to sit your a*s down and learn!

I pity those guys waiting for someone that will come teach them how to be creative in their skills. You are into music, you have a mentor in that field, and you are waiting for him to teach you how to be creative, you are just being a lazy ass!

“It is one thing for a person to be talented and it is another thing for a person to be creative and what distinguishes talent and makes it unique is creativity”. Creativity is very important in a way that if all the talented people we have in the world today aren’t creative everyone will keep doing one particular skill the same way.

Imagine every one sounding the
same way when singing? imagine everyone sounding the same way on the piano or drum set when playing? If this happens then there is no beauty!

You keep doing what everyone is doing
and you think you will be unique? Uniqueness is birthed when you become a variant, when variation takes place in your craft.

Variation is a biology term that means “the differences exhibited by organism of the same
species”. That is why when uniqueness is being emphasized the statement “YOU MUST BE
DIFFERENT” is always stressed.

You must be different is the only step to being unique, there is no short cut to achieving it.
