Hive Open Mic Week #183 // I've Wandered Far Away Covered By @mamab
Hello music lovers, it's been quite a little while for me on hive open mic. I'm excited to be part of this week's presentation. I am @mamab and this week I'll be doing something a bit different from the normal. Guess what? I'm singing a hymn. There are many hymn books actually, but I've decided to pick from the Sacred Songs and Solos compiled under the direction of Ira D. Sankey.
The song is titled "I've wandered far away". It is actually in line with the theme for the week which is "Hasta la Vista" meaning goodbye in English Language.
What drove my attention to this song is the acknowledgement of the need to say goodbye to the ways of sin and wasteful life and come back home. There are times when one feels life out there is more interesting and promising, unfortunately when it is outside Jesus be sure to experience a crash.
Wandering is like moving without a tangible direction. It is a life without focus and purpose which will amount to fruitless results. It is important to note that saying goodbye to the things of unrighteousness is the answer to a better life. Embrace salvation and say goodbye to ungodliness.
Special acknowledgement to the community recent spotlight artist @glowie for choosing such a beautiful theme.
It's a simple and meaningful song, join me as we sing together.
Lyrics
I've wandered far away from God
Now I'm coming home
The path of sin too long I've tried
Lord I'm coming home
Coming home coming home
Never more to roam
By thy grace I will be thine
Lord I'm coming home
I've wasted many precious years
Now I'm coming home
I now repent with bitter tears
Lord I'm coming home
The story of the prodigal son saying a much needed goodbye, a nice choice with this hymn.... Welldone
Highly appreciated
