Hive Open Mic Week #253 // How Great Thou Art Cover By mamab
Hive Open Mic Week #253, I salute every gentleman and lady who is a member of this beautiful community. It has always been an interesting moment to participate in the weekly concert. My name is mamab.
Special recognition goes to @jesusnlrs and his team for their tireless efforts to keep the community growing.
The theme for this week is "dear diary". Diary is a book where we write down memories, dates and futuristic events. Visiting my diary, I picked a song to fit the theme and it's titled "How great thou art". It is actually a hymn. Many people have recorded it but I chose the one by Hillsong.
I chose the song because of the memories of God as an awesome wonder. I remember in 2015 when I was wheeled to the theater to undergo a surgery on my ear. It started 3 years earlier when I was in the University, I just woke up one day and noticed something like a boil close to my ear. It kept increasing in size and every medication I applied to end it proved abortive. After 3 years, my face started deforming. I usually plait hairstyles that fall to the front in order to cover that side of my face. Whenever I use scarf, I would make sure that side is not noticed.
I felt very uneasy and cried many times as I pray, thinking of what my face would turn out to be until one day I met my secondary school friend who noticed as I kept adjusting my scarf to cover my face. He asked to see my full face and was shocked at the sight.
To cut the long story, he introduced me to a senior doctor who examined me and recommended surgery. I was scared of many things including entering the theater and not coming out alive. I was placed on anesthesia and was unconscious for about 6 hours. When I woke up, I didn't see the growth again. God did it through the doctors. What a memory.

I am blessed by both your testimony and song.
I had a surgery like that too, close to my neck 2008, when operated upon the brought out a growth.
I was also scared about going to the hospital, because of the stories of surgeries that go bad.
I went by faith, and the doctor was our family friend, he said I shouldn't be afraid,he will do cosmetic surgery, that you won't notice easily.
While he was operating on me, he was talking to me through out, and I did know when he finished the stitches 🪡 because he engaged me in a conversation while he was operating.
You reminded of what God has done for me.
