Hello, dear Open Mic friends! We have reached week 293 of this wonderful contest, and the theme of this edition, Opening Seas, invites us to look beyond visible limits and remember that even when everything seems impossible, faith has the power to open paths where before there was only deep water.
For this opportunity, I chose to perform En La Tormenta (In the Storm), a song by the talented Lilly Goodman, included in her album Vuelve a Casa (Come Home) (2003). This song is a true refuge for the soul: it speaks of those moments when life darkens, when it seems that there are no stars, no direction, no calm, only a storm that shakes everything around us. However, it is precisely in the midst of that storm that the central message emerges: do not be afraid, God is still in control. And that is where this song connects so beautifully with the theme of the week.
Just as Moses parted the sea in the midst of a desperate situation, the song reminds us that God can also part oceans for us: paths where before there were only doubts, hope where we only saw fear, tranquility where we only felt uncertainty. Every word of “En La Tormenta” invites us to trust, to believe that even in chaos God makes the impossible possible. Because parting oceans is not just a miraculous act of the past; it is something that continues to happen today in the lives of those who choose to take refuge in Him.

Llegamos a la semana 293 de este bello concurso y la temática de esta edición, Abriendo Mares, nos invita a mirar más allá de los límites visibles y a recordar que, incluso cuando todo parece imposible, la fe tiene el poder de abrir caminos donde antes solo había agua profunda.
Para esta oportunidad elegí interpretar En La Tormenta, un tema de la talentosa Lilly Goodman, incluido en su álbum Vuelve a Casa (2003). Esta canción es un verdadero refugio para el alma: habla de esos momentos donde la vida se oscurece, donde parece que no hay estrellas, ni dirección, ni calma, solo una tormenta que sacude todo a nuestro alrededor. Sin embargo, precisamente en medio de esa tormenta surge el mensaje central: no temas, Dios sigue teniendo el control. Y es ahí donde esta canción se conecta tan bellamente con la temática de la semana.
Así como Moisés abrió el mar en medio de un escenario desesperante, la canción nos recuerda que Dios también puede abrir océanos para nosotros: caminos donde antes solo había dudas, esperanza donde solo veíamos miedo, tranquilidad donde solo sentíamos incertidumbre. Cada palabra de “En La Tormenta” nos invita a confiar, a creer que incluso en el caos Dios hace posible lo imposible. Porque abrir océanos no es solo un acto milagroso del pasado; es algo que sigue ocurriendo hoy en la vida de quien decide refugiarse en Él.
Gracias por acompañarme una semana más en esta hermosa aventura musical. Que esta interpretación sea un recordatorio de que, aun cuando soplan los vientos más fuertes, si Dios va con nosotros, el mar siempre se abrirá.
