Happy Tuesday, dear Open Mic friends! A new week brings us together once again around music, and this time, week 289 invites us to reflect on a truly special theme: the Holy See.
Thinking about this place brings back many memories for me, especially that trip I took to Rome some time ago. But beyond its imposing buildings and millennial history, what resonates most in my heart is the memory that the remains of the apostle Peter rest there: an imperfect man, with virtues and flaws, but with an immense love for Jesus and his Gospel.
Many remember him as the one who denied him... and yes, he did. But I prefer to remember him as the one who said three times, “Lord, you know that I love you.” That sincerity, that internal struggle, and that redeemed love inspire me deeply.
Today I want to share with you a song that reflects that same feeling: “¿Que si te amo?” (Do I love you?) by Mexican singer Marcos Barrientos, from the album Tú eres Señor (You are Lord) (2006). It is a song that expresses, with simple and sincere beauty, the desire to look Jesus in the eyes, to overcome shame and guilt, and to reaffirm our love for Him.
It is a song that touches my soul every time I perform it, and I love being able to share it with all of you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
¡Feliz martes, queridos amigos de Open Mic! Una nueva semana nos reúne una vez más en torno a la música, y en esta ocasión la semana 289 nos invita a reflexionar sobre una temática realmente especial: La Santa Sede.
Pensar en este lugar despierta en mí muchos recuerdos, especialmente aquel viaje que realicé a Roma hace un tiempo. Pero, más allá de sus imponentes edificios o su historia milenaria, lo que más resuena en mi corazón es recordar que allí descansan los restos del apóstol Pedro: un hombre imperfecto, con virtudes y defectos, pero con un amor inmenso por Jesús y por su Evangelio.
Muchos lo recuerdan como aquel que lo negó… y sí, lo hizo. Pero yo prefiero recordarlo como el que tres veces le dijo: “Señor, tú sabes que te amo”. Esa sinceridad, esa lucha interna y ese amor redimido me inspiran profundamente.
Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una canción que refleja ese mismo sentimiento: “¿Que si te amo?” del cantante mexicano Marcos Barrientos, perteneciente al álbum Tú eres Señor (2006). Es un tema que expresa, con una belleza simple y sincera, el deseo de mirar a Jesús a los ojos, de superar la vergüenza y la culpa, y de reafirmar nuestro amor hacia Él.
Es una canción que me toca el alma cada vez que la interpreto, y que me encanta poder compartir con todos ustedes. Espero que la disfruten tanto como yo.
