Three Tunes Tuesday- Scarypoolparty
A star was born
American Idol has proven to be a great stepping stone for many musicians. Many of its alumni are now successful artists and musicians, even some received sales with over 500,000 albums. Then, during its 17th season, American Idol helped the world to discover a multi talented and musically gifted singer, Alejandro Aranda. He is not only doing cover songs but also sings original during the season. His guitar play has a unique style to it. Not only that, he can play piano, rapping, and make electronic music. It’s also something rare that an American idol contestant was able to perform their own works. But Alejandro was different. Even during his first audition, he was performing his original and he was playing with a guitar. Then, the judges were challenging him and he was able to play piano. He mentioned that his inspiration was Beethoven, Bach and Chopin in which you can hear later in some of his music. I personally followed his audition from the beginning until the end and remained fans despite American Idol being over. Now, without further adieu, I present to you some of Alenjadro Aranda's best work a.k.a Scary Pool Party.
Out loud
It’s the first song that he sings during his audition that really captured the judges, even myself. It’s so melodic and his guitar play is just indescribable. As you can hear in this video below, he also mentioned that he’s self taught which made this song and the composition of his song even more incredible. In short though, he’s super talented.
Blesser
This was also played during Idol but in a much shorter version. However this is the original version which is such a delight and the lyrics are poetic too. Since it’s not recorded in a professional studio, his voice is lower than the piano. I also leave you the idol version where it sounds much cleaner and his voice was much more visible compared to the previous version.
Poison
This song also highlights Alejandro’s guitar skill and was also played during American idol. Throughout the season, he was continuously bringing his A game into the shows and unlike many other contestants who were just doing covers, he was singing his own music. Sadly though, he didn’t win the first spot. He only got the 2nd spot. One thing for sure is that, even today his music is so versatile and he shows different sides of himself with different instruments.
I was actually very difficult for me to pick only three because I also left out one of his work, cholo love which is also great and available in different versions. His personality is very humble and chill. It’s like the type of guy that just doesn’t take life too seriously but does amazing in everything he tries to do. For the next three tunes Tuesday, I will bring you Eden, one of the underrated artists that I listen to a lot as well. Stay tuned!

Hey, his guitar technique is cool and his voice gives some special vibes to my ears... well, to my mind ;D
And that piano playing - he is killing!!! 😱 In the piece Blesser there are some passages totally like Chopin's study op 10 no 1 click here and scroll to second 10, where it starts :)
It is clearly a classical influence and transformed in his own style! Great, great, great!
right! I listened to the link you attached, just amazed. I do listen classical here and there when I am in the mood or when I am studying😄. Also true! he just has his own spin of classical music and modernizing it. Sad though that people haven't found him yet or that he's gone viral.
Great to see someone very talented like Alejandro making it to the last two of American Idol, it's a pity he didn't win it, but I'm sure all the airtime helped launch his career. I love how his inspirations were Beethoven, Bach and Chopin. You don't get that too often. Thanks for sharing the tunes with us, he has a funky guitar playing style that I really like too.
Ya, that's what his appeal was. The winner though was certainly better looking and sort of fits the screen and popular taste than Alejandro. I read his comment section even these days that people are still following him from his American idol days. He deserved it as he's such a versatile musician. Thanks for checking out!
Ya the winners are rarely the best musicians in these shows and they are often very plastic and over produced. I like that Alejandro is a break from that norm.
