Our uncertainty is as swinging as the camels' steps. The long line proceeds with slow steps over the dunes, drawing lines geometrically in harmony with those of nature. Accustomed to cutting through the landscape on the highways, here we find ourselves again coinciding with the unfolding of natural phenomena.
After an hour and a half of driving, we were in sight of the hotel where Fox was supposed to be waiting for us.
Immediately Gianluca trembled: 'I don't see him!
"I think I see a white car".
"Yes it is a white car".
"But are you sure it's ours?".
About ten more minutes pass, the dunes are lower and lower, and Manuel says: "But you see that it is not our car".
"That's not a hatchback".
"But it is a Peugeot".
"Yes, maybe it's a Peugeot, but it's not ours I tell you".
We finally arrived at the hotel and Fox came to meet us: "Friends, friends, had a good trip? Enjoyed it?" happy to see us again.
"Hello, hello, yes beautiful," we reply.
In those three days, Fox managed to smoke an entire carton of cigarettes, Manuel's. We greet him, thank him and honour the fee. He does not seem satisfied with what we gave him. I'm sorry, I had misunderstood the figure when we concluded the contract and now we don't have all the money he is asking for. We pass as stingy and his expression turns to disappointment. Actually counting the carton of cigarettes, we are almost on the price but he is now outraged. To this day I feel disturbed by this event.
The journey resumes on board the 205 and the long desert crossing tends towards Ouarzazate. The desert suddenly stops. The Gorges du Todra open up into a deep canyon carved out by a torrent that waters the irregular hollows torn out of the rock, filling that gorge carved out of the rock with green.
We return to the desert on a small asphalt road, where the exchange with other vehicles, generally more reckless than us, takes us ....

La nostra incertezza è altalenante come i passi dei cammelli. La lunga fila procede a passi lenti sulle dune, disegnando linee geometricamente in armonia con quelle della natura. Abituati a tagliare il paesaggio nelle autostrade, qui ci si ritrova di nuovo coincidenti con lo svolgersi dei fenomeni naturali.
Dopo un’ora e mezzo di marcia eccoci in vista dell’albergo dove Fox avrebbe dovuto essere in nostra attesa.
Subito Gianluca trepidante: “Io non lo vedo!”.
“Mi sembra di vedere una macchina bianca”.
“Si è una macchina bianca”.
“Ma siete sicuri che sia la nostra?”.
Passano ancora una decina di minuti, le dune sono sempre più basse e Manuele dice: “Ma lo vedete che non è la nostra automobile”.
“Quella non è un’utilitaria”.
“Ma si che è una Peugeot”.
“Si, magari è una Peugeot, ma non è la nostra vi dico”.
Arrivati infine all’hotel, ecco Fox venirci incontro: “Amici, amici, fatto buon viaggio? Piaciuto?” felice di rivederci.
“Ciao, ciao, si bellissimo,” gli rispondiamo.
In quei tre giorni Fox è riuscito a fumarsi un’intera stecca di sigarette, quella di Manuele. Lo salutiamo, lo ringraziamo e onoriamo la parcella. Non sembra soddisfatto di quello che gli abbiamo dato. Mi dispiace, avevo capito male la cifra al momento della conclusione del contratto e adesso non abbiamo tutti soldi che ci chiede. Passiamo da spilorci e la sua espressione si colora di delusione. In realtà contando anche la stecca di sigarette, siamo quasi sul prezzo ma lui ormai è rimasto sdegnato. Ancora oggi mi sento disturbato da questo evento.
Il viaggio riprende il suo cammino a bordo della 205 e la lunga traversata del deserto tende verso Ouarzazate. Il deserto s’interrompe improvvisamente. Le Gorges du Todra si aprono in un profondo canyon scavato da un torrente che annaffia gli irregolari orticelli strappati alla roccia, riempiendo di verde quella gola scavata nella roccia.
Riprendiamo il deserto su una piccola strada asfaltata, dove lo scambio con altri automezzi, generalmente più temerari di noi, ci ....
